<p>तेलंगाना का खम्मम जिला पूरे राज्य में ताड़ की खेती के लिए जाना जाता है। यह राज्य के चार ऐसे चुनिन्दा जिलों में से है जहां 1990 के दशक में सबसे पहले ताड़ की खेती शुरू हुई थी। यहां ताड़ की खेती करने वाले बहुत से पुराने और नए किसान आपको आसानी से मिल जाएंगे। छप्पन वर्ष के विद्या सागर ऐसे ही एक किसान हैं जो इस जिले के मेदीपल्ली गांव में रहते हैं। नवम्बर के महीने में ताड़ के दूसरे किसानों की तरह यह भी अपने आठ एकड़ के ताड़ के बगीचे में मजदूरों की मदद से इन पेड़ों में लगे फलों (गरी) को कटवाने में व्यस्त थे। दोपहर के कुछ घंटों के काम के बाद शाम तक विद्या सागर ने एक ट्रॉली में इन फलों को 100 किलोमीटर दूर स्थित एक फैक्ट्री में भेज दिया जहां ताड़ का तेल निकाला जाएगा।&nbsp;<br />
