&nbsp;The order also stated that the office of block development officer, Bardez, must execute the order and recover the penalty from the respondent/PIO and the said amount be paid in the government treasury.<br />
<br />
'Public authorities must introspect that non-furnishing of information lands a citizen before FAA and this commission, resulting into unnecessary harassment of a common man which is legally not permissible,' the order stated.<br />
<br />
'I feel that imposition of penalty of 7,000 would meet the ends of justice,' stated the order issued by Ajit Panchawadkar, under secretary-cum-registrar, Goa SIC<br />
<br />
In another order, the SIC has imposed a penalty of 5,000 on the secretary of Siolim-Marna panchayat.<br />
<br />
The order was issued as the information was not furnished on time and the complainant, Subhash Jetha, approached the commission.<br />
<br />
The SIC has asked that the money be recovered from the monthly salary of September and October.

2 panchayat secretaries penalized for not giving information under RTI

PANAJI: Officers not furnishing information on time may land in trouble as the State Information Commission (SIC) has already penalized two panchayat secretaries of Penha da Franca panchayat and Siolim-Marna panchayat.
The SIC, hearing the Sachin Kalokhe petition for delay in furnishing information under RTI Act, imposed a penalty of 7,000 on the Penha da Franca panchayat secretary and directed that the amount of penalty should be recovered from the salary in three installments in the months of October, November and December.
The order also stated that the office of block development officer, Bardez, must execute the order and recover the penalty from the respondent/PIO and the said amount be paid in the government treasury.
'Public authorities must introspect that non-furnishing of information lands a citizen before FAA and this commission, resulting into unnecessary harassment of a common man which is legally not permissible,' the order stated.
'I feel that imposition of penalty of 7,000 would meet the ends of justice,' stated the order issued by Ajit Panchawadkar, under secretary-cum-registrar, Goa SIC
In another order, the SIC has imposed a penalty of 5,000 on the secretary of Siolim-Marna panchayat.
The order was issued as the information was not furnished on time and the complainant, Subhash Jetha, approached the commission.
The SIC has asked that the money be recovered from the monthly salary of September and October.
