The delegation also took views of the eminent scientist Dr. Swaminathan on possibility of brining similar legislations by the State to best protect the interests of farmers. Dr. Swaminathan told the delegation that unless any provision in the seeds bill is covered by any international treaty, States are free to legislate. It also discussed the provisions of ECA applied to cotton seeds.&lt;br /&gt;

The delegation was visibly very satisfied by the response of the central leaders. It plans to meet other senior leaders across different parties and senior officials in the Ministry of Agriculture and ICAR. The delegation also took views of the eminent scientist Dr. Swaminathan on possibility of brining similar legislations by the State to best protect the interests of farmers. Dr. Swaminathan told the delegation that unless any provision in the seeds bill is covered by any international treaty, States are free to legislate.                 <p align="justify"><br /><font >Leading a 15 member delegation on Seeds Bill 2004, comprised of MPs, MLAs, former Ministers and farmers leaders from Andhra Pradesh, the State Agriculture Minister, Mr. Raghuveera Reddy met all the important leaders in New Delhi yesterday, starting from the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, UPA Chairperson, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, Agriculture Minister, Mr. Sharad Pawar, Law Minister, Mr. Veerappa Moily, Finance Minister, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, renowned scientist and MP, Dr. MS Swaminathan and CPM Leader Mr. Sitaram Yechuri. In a hectic day the delegation also found time to address an hour long press meet at AP Bhawan.&nbsp;&nbsp; <br />&nbsp;<br />The main agenda of the delegation was to impress upon the central leaders to protect the Interest of farmers through needful modifications in the <a href="https://im4change.in/articles.php?articleId=1760" title="https://im4change.in/articles.php?articleId=1760">upcoming Seeds Bill 2004</a>, allowing farmers to use, reuse, exchange and sell their own seeds, regulate the soaring prices of hybrid seeds and technology prices, technology access to all Indian companies, setting up of Biotech Regulatory Authority and adequate compensation to farmers in case of seed failure and the claim settlement be done at district levels. The delegation also took views of the eminent scientist Dr. Swaminathan on possibility of brining similar legislations by the State to best protect the interests of farmers. Dr. Swaminathan told the delegation that unless any provision in the seeds bill is covered by any international treaty, States are free to legislate. It also discussed the provisions of ECA applied to cotton seeds.<br />&nbsp;<br />The delegation was visibly very satisfied by the response of the central leaders. It plans to meet other senior leaders across different parties and senior officials in the Ministry of Agriculture and ICAR. AP Minister Meets PM on Seeds Bill

Leading a 15 member delegation on Seeds Bill 2004, comprised of MPs, MLAs, former Ministers and farmers leaders from Andhra Pradesh, the State Agriculture Minister, Mr. Raghuveera Reddy met all the important leaders in New Delhi yesterday, starting from the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, UPA Chairperson, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, Agriculture Minister, Mr. Sharad Pawar, Law Minister, Mr. Veerappa Moily, Finance Minister, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, renowned scientist and MP, Dr. MS Swaminathan and CPM Leader Mr. Sitaram Yechuri. In a hectic day the delegation also found time to address an hour long press meet at AP Bhawan.     The main agenda of the delegation was to impress upon the central leaders to protect the Interest of farmers through needful modifications in the upcoming Seeds Bill 2004, allowing farmers to use, reuse, exchange and sell their own seeds, regulate the soaring prices of hybrid seeds and technology prices, technology access to all Indian companies, setting up of Biotech Regulatory Authority and adequate compensation to farmers in case of seed failure and the claim settlement be done at district levels. The delegation also took views of the eminent scientist Dr. Swaminathan on possibility of brining similar legislations by the State to best protect the interests of farmers. Dr. Swaminathan told the delegation that unless any provision in the seeds bill is covered by any international treaty, States are free to legislate. It also discussed the provisions of ECA applied to cotton seeds.   The delegation was visibly very satisfied by the response of the central leaders. It plans to meet other senior leaders across different parties and senior officials in the Ministry of Agriculture and ICAR. Besides Mr. Raghuveera Reddy, it comprised of Mr. VS Rao, former Agriculture Minister, Mr. Venkat Ram Reddy, MP, Mr. P Prabhakar, MP, Mr. Nizamuddin, ex MP, Mr. Kodananda Reddy of Congress, Mr. S Rama Rao, CPM, Mr. K Nageshwara Rao, CPI, Mr. N Venkateswara Rao, TDP, Mr. Shivaji, BJP and others.
