&lt;br /&gt;
The major points of difference between the government draft and the NCPRI version is that the latter has pitched in favour of bringing the prime minister within the ambit of the Lokpal. The NCPRI, however, feels that one agency called the National Anti-corruption Lokpal should handle corruption cases related to all elected representatives (including PM with some safeguards), ministers, MPs and Group A officials while a separate agency should tackle corruption in mid-level bureaucracy. It has also envisaged setting up of different agencies to tackle public grievances while supporting a stronger judicial accountability bill to deal with corruption in judiciary. &lt;br /&gt;

                <br /><div align="justify">Days before the draft Lokpal bill is expected to be put before the Union Cabinet for its consideration, the National Campaign for People's Right to Information (NCPRI) headed by Aruna Roy has begun lobbying for its version of the anti-corruption legislation. <br /><br />Roy and her colleagues met with law minister and government representative on the joint drafting panel Salman Khursheed on Tuesday and are likely to meet HRD minister Kapil Sibal later this week. <br /><br />The move gains significance as Sibal had on July 22 announced that the bill would be brought before the next Cabinet meeting. <br /><br />Roy, who is part of the Sonia Gandhi-led National Advisory Council (NAC), has been opposed to Team Anna's version of the Lokpal bill and will meet government representatives of the Lokpal drafting committee and political parties to explain their concept of the Lokpal. Speaking to TOI after the meeting, NCPRI member Nikhil Dey said, &quot;We explained our approach to the Lokpal bill. Roy and her colleagues met with law minister and government representative on the joint drafting panel Salman Khursheed on Tuesday and are likely to meet HRD minister Kapil Sibal later this week. The move gains significance as Sibal had on July 22 announced that the bill would be brought before the next Cabinet meeting. Roy, who is part of the Sonia Gandhi-led National Advisory Council (NAC), has been opposed to Team Anna's version of the Lokpal bill and will meet government representatives of the Lokpal drafting committee and political parties to explain their concept of the Lokpal. Speaking to TOI after the meeting, NCPRI member Nikhil Dey said, "We explained our approach to the Lokpal bill. We also pointed out that the government version of the Lokpal bill is still not in the public domain." Sources said the group reminded Khursheed of the assurance given by finance minister Pranab Mukherjee that the bill would be discussed in a transparent manner before it was brought to the Cabinet. Significantly, the group is seen to be more closely aligned with the government due to Roy's presence in the NAC. The major points of difference between the government draft and the NCPRI version is that the latter has pitched in favour of bringing the prime minister within the ambit of the Lokpal. The NCPRI, however, feels that one agency called the National Anti-corruption Lokpal should handle corruption cases related to all elected representatives (including PM with some safeguards), ministers, MPs and Group A officials while a separate agency should tackle corruption in mid-level bureaucracy. It has also envisaged setting up of different agencies to tackle public grievances while supporting a stronger judicial accountability bill to deal with corruption in judiciary. Meanwhile, former law minister Shanti Bhushan wrote to finance minister Pranab Mukherjee reiterating that both the civil society and the government version of the Lokpal draft be placed before the Cabinet. In a letter on Tuesday, Bhushan said the government representatives had promised as much.
