Dhemaji district administration opened five relief camps in the district and has even started distribution of relief material among flood victims.</p><p align="justify">According to a Central Water Commission report, the water level of the Brahmaputra at Neematighat in Jorhat district was 87.73cm on Sunday evening and it was showing a rising trend. While the Jiadhol, Gai and Kumatia rivers in Dhemaji are in spate, water levels of the Disang, Burhidihing and Dikhow in Sivasagar and the Jiabhoroli in Sonitpur showed rising trends on Sunday.</p><p align="justify">All these rivers are tributaries of the Brahmaputra.</p><p align="justify">According to official reports, about 9,774 people and over 2,000 hectares of cropland have been affected in Dhemaji district. Altogether, 72 villages in Dhemaji are inundated, of which Sisiborgaon, Gogamukh and Jonai revenue circles are badly affected. About 25 villages in Majuli in the Jorhat west area and Teok revenue circle in Jorhat district along with 37 villages in Golaghat district are flooded.</p><p align="justify">District programme officer of disaster management (Dhemaji), Luhit Gogoi, said, &quot;Five relief camps have also been opened at Chamgkong village in Jonai and about 850 people have taken shelter there. Dhemaji district administration opened five relief camps in the district and has even started distribution of relief material among flood victims.</p><p align="justify">According to a Central Water Commission report, the water level of the Brahmaputra at Neematighat in Jorhat district was 87.73cm on Sunday evening and it was showing a rising trend. While the Jiadhol, Gai and Kumatia rivers in Dhemaji are in spate, water levels of the Disang, Burhidihing and Dikhow in Sivasagar and the Jiabhoroli in Sonitpur showed rising trends on Sunday.</p><p align="justify">All these rivers are tributaries of the Brahmaputra.</p><p align="justify">According to official reports, about 9,774 people and over 2,000 hectares of cropland have been affected in Dhemaji district. Altogether, 72 villages in Dhemaji are inundated, of which Sisiborgaon, Gogamukh and Jonai revenue circles are badly affected. About 25 villages in Majuli in the Jorhat west area and Teok revenue circle in Jorhat district along with 37 villages in Golaghat district are flooded.</p><p align="justify">District programme officer of disaster management (Dhemaji), Luhit Gogoi, said, &quot;Five relief camps have also been opened at Chamgkong village in Jonai and about 850 people have taken shelter there. We have distributed relief material like rice, dal and salt among the inmates and no casualty has been reported so far.&quot; He added, &quot;The water levels of the Brahmaputra and other rivers in the district have been rising for the last 12 hours and the situation may worsen overnight.&quot;</p><p align="justify">An official in Majuli said, &quot;The surging water level of the Brahmaputra has submerged more than 20 villages located outside the main embankment of the river island from Saturday and may affect other villages and Vaisnaviate sattras too.&quot;</p><p align="justify">Meanwhile, the rising water level of the Brahmaputra is also posing a threat to Kaziranga National Park. Park authorities said water from the river started entering the park periphery on Saturday, but the situation is under control. &quot;Floodwaters have started entering the park area, but the situation is under control. The water level of the Brahmaputra in Dibrugarh was 105.12 cm at 3pm on Sunday, but once it crosses 105.75 cm, the park will be inundated,&quot; said park director N K Vasu.</p>'
