Every possible step will be taken to ensure that intense vigil is maintained in the entire process followed by schools - procuring ingredients, fixing menus and preparing the food," said Arun Kumar Chatterjee, the chairman of the state government task force that monitors the implementation of the midday meal scheme in Bengal. According to him, the task force prepared a list of instructions for schools and forwarded it to the school education department on Friday. A notice containing the new instructions will soon be issued to the schools, education department officials said. The state will set up inspection teams for every district. The teams will visit schools in batches on every working day and examine whether proper hygiene is maintained during cooking and serving. Chatterjee said the maximum emphasis would be laid on the use of proper edible oil.
