The current concept of biotechnology covers both products and services rendered through the new approaches and touch almost every aspect of human being, from agriculture to therapeutics to bio-fuels to pollution control he maintained.&lt;br /&gt;

However, there has been vehement opposition in India against modern biotechnology for over a decade. Several organisations have been working to mould public opinion against the deployment of modern technology more particularly in agricultural biotechnology and to pressurize the government to ban it. The current concept of biotechnology covers both products and services rendered through the new approaches and touch almost every aspect of human being, from agriculture to therapeutics to bio-fuels to pollution control he maintained.&lt;br /&gt;

However, there has been vehement opposition in India against modern biotechnology for over a decade. Several organisations have been working to mould public opinion against the deployment of modern technology more particularly in agricultural biotechnology and to pressurize the government to ban it. The current concept of biotechnology covers both products and services rendered through the new approaches and touch almost every aspect of human being, from agriculture to therapeutics to bio-fuels to pollution control he maintained.&lt;br /&gt;

However, there has been vehement opposition in India against modern biotechnology for over a decade. Several organisations have been working to mould public opinion against the deployment of modern technology more particularly in agricultural biotechnology and to pressurize the government to ban it. The current concept of biotechnology covers both products and services rendered through the new approaches and touch almost every aspect of human being, from agriculture to therapeutics to bio-fuels to pollution control he maintained.<br />

However, there has been vehement opposition in India against modern biotechnology for over a decade. Several organisations have been working to mould public opinion against the deployment of modern technology more particularly in agricultural biotechnology and to pressurize the government to ban it. However, this is only for political mileage and not for any scientific or environmental concerns, he noted.<br />

Vice Chancellor of Horticulture University (Bagalkot) S B Dandin inaugurated the two-day conference and expressed concern over indiscriminate exploitation of resources in Western Ghats. Referring to the biotechnology, he said, BT is the best tool to protect the biodiversity. However, it is essential to use BT for the benefit of the nature. If BT is used meticulously, conservation of vanishing species of plants could be done, he added. <br />
