&amp;quot;I had sought detailed information of the number of policy holders of Jivan Madhur - a micro insurance policy launched in 2006-07 mainly for economically weaker sections - and also the total amount of premium collected by the Bhagalpur division under this scheme,&amp;quot; Singh said.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
He had also asked for the number of defaulters in the policy (who could not deposit the premium on time) and hence after the lapse of such policies how much amount was earned by the LIC. The activist had also asked to provide all the evidence with proper documentary proof of the steps taken by the LIC to counter the increasing number of such defaulters.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
He had also sought information about the number of maturities, number of beneficiaries who made claims, along with the number of such persons who had not yet received their dues with the present status of the scheme.&lt;br /&gt;

Singh also asked the LIC, Bhagalpur division, to provide the details of the work done under CSR for the past five years, along with evidence of the expenditures.&lt;br /&gt;

                <div align="justify">-The Telegraph<br /><br /><em>Bhagalpur: </em>An unusual demand of Rs 2 lakh by an insurance company in lieu of providing information to one Right to Information (RTI) activist from Bhagalpur has left the crusader in the lurch.<br /><br />Ajit Kumar Singh, the RTI activist, had sought information from the Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India about the details of implementation of a scheme, mainly aimed at the economically weaker sections and also about the works done by the insurance behemoth under corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative of the divisional office in Bhagalpur.<br /><br />Having filed his application in April 2014, the activist had failed to get information from the insurance company after which he appealed to the higher forum. The Central Information Commission issued an order in May this year, directing the LIC to provide relevant information to the applicant.<br /><br />Much to the chagrin of the activist, the insurance company, however, demanded Rs 2.04 lakh from the applicant, stating that it would have to depute two dedicated employees for 51 days to sort out the relevant information and the money would go to their salary account.<br /><br />&quot;I had sought detailed information of the number of policy holders of Jivan Madhur - a micro insurance policy launched in 2006-07 mainly for economically weaker sections - and also the total amount of premium collected by the Bhagalpur division under this scheme,&quot; Singh said.<br /><br />He had also asked for the number of defaulters in the policy (who could not deposit the premium on time) and hence after the lapse of such policies how much amount was earned by the LIC. The activist had also asked to provide all the evidence with proper documentary proof of the steps taken by the LIC to counter the increasing number of such defaulters.<br /><br />He had also sought information about the number of maturities, number of beneficiaries who made claims, along with the number of such persons who had not yet received their dues with the present status of the scheme.<br /><br />Singh also asked the LIC, Bhagalpur division, to provide the details of the work done under CSR for the past five years, along with evidence of the expenditures.<br /><br />Despite several requests LIC's Bhagalpur division failed to provide detailed information and the ones, which were provided, failed to satisfy the applicant.<br /><br />Following this, the applicant moved the Central Information Commission, New Delhi, and the second appeal in the case was accepted (case number CIC/MP/A/2014/001684).
