City principals were briefed about the RTE modalities by Annapurni Shastri, principal, Bhavan&#039;s Wathoda branch as she was in touchwith the state education department.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The meeting was held under the banner of Nagpur Sahodaya Schools Complex (NSSC), the CBSE schools&#039; association, and was attended by 23 principals as some were not in city. Reena Dargan, secretary of NSSC and principal of Ira International, said, &amp;quot;We have members from other districts as well but their presence was not needed in this meeting and we wrote to them saying they should communicate directly with their respective education offices regarding details of implementing the RTE. In Nagpur, we all have decided to follow the Common Programme given by the deputy director of education&#039;s office and reopen admissions from June 20.&amp;quot;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
All schools, except Bhavans, are on board for reopening admissions for the 25% free quota. Sources said the institute&#039;s management is yet to take a final call on the issue due to the perceived infrastructure problems that will arise if extra students are to be accommodated.&lt;br /&gt;

Many questions were raised in Saturday&#039;s meeting. A principal, who did not wish to be named, said, &amp;quot;Implementing the admission clause of RTE from this year seems a bit harsh as some of schools just don&#039;t have the required space. Had it been done from next year we would have ensured that the total admissions are in line with infrastructure provisions.&amp;quot;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Most of them agreed on the issue. &amp;quot;Yes doubts were raised as it is something new. But we are clear on one thing - this is the law and we have to implement it,&amp;quot; said Dargan.&lt;br /&gt;

One major concern that schools had was about parents&#039; backlash at schools if the infrastructure gets stretched. Principal of a Wardha-Road located school, said, &amp;quot;My fear is parents hollering at us at PTA meetings when they realize that we have seating arrangement for only 40 and are now squeezing 48 in the same space. It is now up to our managements to decide whether to release funds immediately to construct new classrooms, especially when the reimbursement will not be even up to that level.&amp;quot;&lt;br /&gt;

The biggest problems will certainly be faced by top schools like Centre Point and Bhavans which are already operating at full capacity and have absolutely no space to expand, but the government sees this as a temporary problem. TOI had reported on Friday that almost all CBSE schools will start distributing admission forms from June 20 to meet provisions as mandated under the Right To Education (RTE).<br /><br />City principals were briefed about the RTE modalities by Annapurni Shastri, principal, Bhavan's Wathoda branch as she was in touchwith the state education department.<br /><br />The meeting was held under the banner of Nagpur Sahodaya Schools Complex (NSSC), the CBSE schools' association, and was attended by 23 principals as some were not in city. Reena Dargan, secretary of NSSC and principal of Ira International, said, &quot;We have members from other districts as well but their presence was not needed in this meeting and we wrote to them saying they should communicate directly with their respective education offices regarding details of implementing the RTE. In Nagpur, we all have decided to follow the Common Programme given by the deputy director of education's office and reopen admissions from June 20.&quot;<br /><br />All schools, except Bhavans, are on board for reopening admissions for the 25% free quota. TOI had reported on Friday that almost all CBSE schools will start distributing admission forms from June 20 to meet provisions as mandated under the Right To Education (RTE).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;City principals were briefed about the RTE modalities by Annapurni Shastri, principal, Bhavan&#039;s Wathoda branch as she was in touchwith the state education department.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The meeting was held under the banner of Nagpur Sahodaya Schools Complex (NSSC), the CBSE schools&#039; association, and was attended by 23 principals as some were not in city. Reena Dargan, secretary of NSSC and principal of Ira International, said, &amp;quot;We have members from other districts as well but their presence was not needed in this meeting and we wrote to them saying they should communicate directly with their respective education offices regarding details of implementing the RTE. In Nagpur, we all have decided to follow the Common Programme given by the deputy director of education&#039;s office and reopen admissions from June 20.&amp;quot;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;All schools, except Bhavans, are on board for reopening admissions for the 25% free quota. Sources said the institute&#039;s management is yet to take a final call on the issue due to the perceived infrastructure problems that will arise if extra students are to be accommodated.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Many questions were raised in Saturday&#039;s meeting. A principal, who did not wish to be named, said, &amp;quot;Implementing the admission clause of RTE from this year seems a bit harsh as some of schools just don&#039;t have the required space. Had it been done from next year we would have ensured that the total admissions are in line with infrastructure provisions.&amp;quot;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Most of them agreed on the issue. &amp;quot;Yes doubts were raised as it is something new. But we are clear on one thing - this is the law and we have to implement it,&amp;quot; said Dargan.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;One major concern that schools had was about parents&#039; backlash at schools if the infrastructure gets stretched. Principal of a Wardha-Road located school, said, &amp;quot;My fear is parents hollering at us at PTA meetings when they realize that we have seating arrangement for only 40 and are now squeezing 48 in the same space. It is now up to our managements to decide whether to release funds immediately to construct new classrooms, especially when the reimbursement will not be even up to that level.&amp;quot;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The biggest problems will certainly be faced by top schools like Centre Point and Bhavans which are already operating at full capacity and have absolutely no space to expand, but the government sees this as a temporary problem. TOI had reported on Friday that almost all CBSE schools will start distributing admission forms from June 20 to meet provisions as mandated under the Right To Education (RTE).&lt;br /&gt;

City principals were briefed about the RTE modalities by Annapurni Shastri, principal, Bhavan&#039;s Wathoda branch as she was in touchwith the state education department.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The meeting was held under the banner of Nagpur Sahodaya Schools Complex (NSSC), the CBSE schools&#039; association, and was attended by 23 principals as some were not in city. Reena Dargan, secretary of NSSC and principal of Ira International, said, &amp;quot;We have members from other districts as well but their presence was not needed in this meeting and we wrote to them saying they should communicate directly with their respective education offices regarding details of implementing the RTE. In Nagpur, we all have decided to follow the Common Programme given by the deputy director of education&#039;s office and reopen admissions from June 20.&amp;quot;&lt;br /&gt;

All schools, except Bhavans, are on board for reopening admissions for the 25% free quota. Sources said the institute&#039;s management is yet to take a final call on the issue due to the perceived infrastructure problems that will arise if extra students are to be accommodated.&lt;br /&gt;

Many questions were raised in Saturday&#039;s meeting. A principal, who did not wish to be named, said, &amp;quot;Implementing the admission clause of RTE from this year seems a bit harsh as some of schools just don&#039;t have the required space. Had it been done from next year we would have ensured that the total admissions are in line with infrastructure provisions.&amp;quot;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Most of them agreed on the issue. &amp;quot;Yes doubts were raised as it is something new. But we are clear on one thing - this is the law and we have to implement it,&amp;quot; said Dargan.&lt;br /&gt;

One major concern that schools had was about parents&#039; backlash at schools if the infrastructure gets stretched. Principal of a Wardha-Road located school, said, &amp;quot;My fear is parents hollering at us at PTA meetings when they realize that we have seating arrangement for only 40 and are now squeezing 48 in the same space. It is now up to our managements to decide whether to release funds immediately to construct new classrooms, especially when the reimbursement will not be even up to that level.&amp;quot;&lt;br /&gt;

The biggest problems will certainly be faced by top schools like Centre Point and Bhavans which are already operating at full capacity and have absolutely no space to expand, but the government sees this as a temporary problem. <em>NAGPUR: </em>In an urgent meeting convened on Saturday, city CBSE schools decided to send admission related details to the state education department by June 18 and reopen admissions for Std I two days after that. TOI had reported on Friday that almost all CBSE schools will start distributing admission forms from June 20 to meet provisions as mandated under the Right To Education (RTE).<br />

City principals were briefed about the RTE modalities by Annapurni Shastri, principal, Bhavan's Wathoda branch as she was in touchwith the state education department.<br />

The meeting was held under the banner of Nagpur Sahodaya Schools Complex (NSSC), the CBSE schools' association, and was attended by 23 principals as some were not in city. Reena Dargan, secretary of NSSC and principal of Ira International, said, &quot;We have members from other districts as well but their presence was not needed in this meeting and we wrote to them saying they should communicate directly with their respective education offices regarding details of implementing the RTE. In Nagpur, we all have decided to follow the Common Programme given by the deputy director of education's office and reopen admissions from June 20.&quot;<br />

All schools, except Bhavans, are on board for reopening admissions for the 25% free quota. Sources said the institute's management is yet to take a final call on the issue due to the perceived infrastructure problems that will arise if extra students are to be accommodated.<br />

Many questions were raised in Saturday's meeting. A principal, who did not wish to be named, said, &quot;Implementing the admission clause of RTE from this year seems a bit harsh as some of schools just don't have the required space. Had it been done from next year we would have ensured that the total admissions are in line with infrastructure provisions.&quot;<br />
<br />
Most of them agreed on the issue. &quot;Yes doubts were raised as it is something new. But we are clear on one thing - this is the law and we have to implement it,&quot; said Dargan.<br />
<br />
One major concern that schools had was about parents' backlash at schools if the infrastructure gets stretched. Principal of a Wardha-Road located school, said, &quot;My fear is parents hollering at us at PTA meetings when they realize that we have seating arrangement for only 40 and are now squeezing 48 in the same space. It is now up to our managements to decide whether to release funds immediately to construct new classrooms, especially when the reimbursement will not be even up to that level.&quot;<br />
<br />
The biggest problems will certainly be faced by top schools like Centre Point and Bhavans which are already operating at full capacity and have absolutely no space to expand, but the government sees this as a temporary problem. Sanjay Deshmukh, state project director of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, said, &quot;It is a problem just for this year as from next year schools will also adjust accordingly.&quot;
