                <div align="justify">-India Today</div><p align="justify"><br />Following the withdrawal of a subsidy for LPG cylinders by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry, the Human Resource Development Ministry will soon begin reimbursing Rs.752 crore that was spent on preparing mid-day meals in schools using unsubsidised cylinders.</p><p align="justify">The Finance Ministry's Department of Expenditure had last year given &quot;inprinciple&quot; approval for meeting an additional expenditure of Rs.752 crore to be incurred during 2012-13 for procuring LPG cylinders after the withdrawal of subsidy from September 2012. The financial implications were estimated on the basis of average consumption of LPG in 4.08 lakh schools and centralised kitchens in states and union territories.</p><p align="justify">Last week, Gaya Prasad, Director of the mid-day meal department in the Human Resource Development Ministry wrote to principal secretaries, education secretaries and nodal departments for the mid-day meal scheme in states and union territories that the reimbursement will be made on the basis of bills furnished.</p><p align="justify">&quot;All Schools, NGOs, Self Help Groups (SHG), Centralised Kitchens, etc. which are using LPG cylinders for preparing mid-day meals are eligible to get reimbursement of expenditure incurred on the procurement of unsubsidised LPG cylinders after withdrawal of subsidy by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. Centre to refund LPG cost for mid-day meals -Neetu Chandra Sharma

-India Today Following the withdrawal of a subsidy for LPG cylinders by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry, the Human Resource Development Ministry will soon begin reimbursing Rs.752 crore that was spent on preparing mid-day meals in schools using unsubsidised cylinders. The Finance Ministry's Department of Expenditure had last year given "inprinciple" approval for meeting an additional expenditure of Rs.752 crore to be incurred during 2012-13 for procuring LPG cylinders after the withdrawal of subsidy from September 2012. The financial implications were estimated on the basis of average consumption of LPG in 4.08 lakh schools and centralised kitchens in states and union territories. Last week, Gaya Prasad, Director of the mid-day meal department in the Human Resource Development Ministry wrote to principal secretaries, education secretaries and nodal departments for the mid-day meal scheme in states and union territories that the reimbursement will be made on the basis of bills furnished. "All Schools, NGOs, Self Help Groups (SHG), Centralised Kitchens, etc. which are using LPG cylinders for preparing mid-day meals are eligible to get reimbursement of expenditure incurred on the procurement of unsubsidised LPG cylinders after withdrawal of subsidy by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. Such reimbursement is subject to submission of LPG bills from the authorised gas agency by the concerned schools, NGOs, SHGs, centralised kitchens and due verification of the claims by the states and union territories," Prasad said in his letter. "The expenditure on reimbursement of such claims is to be shared between Centre and states in the ratio of 90:10 for North Eastern Region (NER) states and 75:25 for other states and union territories...The cooking cost includes the cost of fuel, also the reimbursement for the expenditure on procurement of unsubsidised LPG cylinders would be made for the difference in the cost of unsubsidised LPG and subsidised LPG cylinders on sharing basis," the letter said.
