Farmers who had prepared the land in the hope of rains by June 15 are worried.

According to the India Meteorological Department , monsoon is likely to remain subdued over the three states. AB Majumdar, deputy director general meteorology, Pune, said, "Rainfall will remain subdued over Maharashtra and Gujarat over the next three to four days as the monsoon current has become weak. Thereafter too, mild rainfall is expected as there is no indication of any disturbance."

The advanced pre-monsoon showers across the western region of the country had raised hopes of rains on time during sowing. At a few places across the three states, farmer might have to go for re-sowing due to the recent inclement weather.

Gujarat's principal secretary, agriculture , RK Tripathi said, "Farmers need not panic at this stage. Over 20% sowing in the irrigated belt of south Gujarat covering 15 lakh hectare has taken place which is much low compared to the previous year.
