A report in news website The Wire has said Lighthizer had in a September 18 letter to Prabhu called the price control on stents "troubling" as it does not differentiate between regular and more sophisticated stents and forced companies to sell innovative products in India at "significant loss". The ADEH has said the Indian government should not succumb to such pressure. "Scientific data suggests that so-called innovative re-absorbable stents are in no way superior to the drug-eluting stents on which prices have been capped." "The Indian government had rejected the companies' demand for differential pricing of stents because the companies had failed to submit verifiable and credible evidence to show the clinical superiority of the so-called innovative stents," said Arun Gadre, a physician and spokesperson for the ADEH.
