That was the 1990s; today, students don&rsquo;t have to worry much about examinations thanks to the new policies under RTE.</font><br /><br /><font >According to the RTE's 'no- fail' policy, students cannot be detained in Std I to VIII. The move was made to ease the pressure among students and to end the age-old rote learning methodology among students.</font><br /><br /><font >&ldquo;Even though I was good in studies the word &lsquo;exam&rsquo; used to scare me. The thought of failing and being held back in the same class was too humiliating for me,&rdquo; says Rachana Singh, an architect.</font><br /><br /><font >The present generation of students is a lucky lot, feels the generation which graduated a decade ago. &ldquo;We didn&rsquo;t have it as easy as today&rsquo;s students. We had examinations, we had assignments and of course we had percentage system, where all of us were competing against each other,&rdquo; says Saurabh Sawant, an IT professional.</font><br /><br /><font >Like Sawant, there are many who agree that even they too felt the pressure but knew how to handle it, unlike the present lot. The thought of failing and being held back in the same class was too humiliating for me,&amp;rdquo; says Rachana Singh, an architect.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;font &gt;The present generation of students is a lucky lot, feels the generation which graduated a decade ago. &amp;ldquo;We didn&amp;rsquo;t have it as easy as today&amp;rsquo;s students. We had examinations, we had assignments and of course we had percentage system, where all of us were competing against each other,&amp;rdquo; says Saurabh Sawant, an IT professional.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;font &gt;Like Sawant, there are many who agree that even they too felt the pressure but knew how to handle it, unlike the present lot. The thought of failing and being held back in the same class was too humiliating for me,&amp;rdquo; says Rachana Singh, an architect.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;font &gt;The present generation of students is a lucky lot, feels the generation which graduated a decade ago. &amp;ldquo;We didn&amp;rsquo;t have it as easy as today&amp;rsquo;s students. We had examinations, we had assignments and of course we had percentage system, where all of us were competing against each other,&amp;rdquo; says Saurabh Sawant, an IT professional.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;font &gt;Like Sawant, there are many who agree that even they too felt the pressure but knew how to handle it, unlike the present lot.
