The reply says the file was sent this January. According to an official, DoPT officials have conveyed this sense to RTI activists in recent meetings clarifying the proposal is no longer on the backburner. &lt;br /&gt;

DoPT has, however, brought the amendments back on the agenda. This was discovered in a RTI reply sent to armed services veteran Lokesh Batra. He had sought information from DoPT on the status of the file on draft RTI rules. He received the response that the file has been sent to the Prime Minister&#039;s Office for action. The reply says the file was sent this January. According to an official, DoPT officials have conveyed this sense to RTI activists in recent meetings clarifying the proposal is no longer on the backburner. &lt;br /&gt;

The move had been shelved after criticism from RTI activists and social rights organisations last year. They were criticised by Sonia Gandhi-led NAC, which had proposed several amendments to the draft rules. DoPT has, however, brought the amendments back on the agenda. This was discovered in a RTI reply sent to armed services veteran Lokesh Batra. He had sought information from DoPT on the status of the file on draft RTI rules. He received the response that the file has been sent to the Prime Minister&#039;s Office for action. The reply says the file was sent this January. According to an official, DoPT officials have conveyed this sense to RTI activists in recent meetings clarifying the proposal is no longer on the backburner. &lt;br /&gt;
