                <div align="justify">-The Times of India</div><p align="justify"><br /><em>NAGPUR: </em>If the post election period had provided some respite to consumers with prices of food grains going down amid fears of a crackdown on hoarders in the Modi regime, low rainfall has led to a rebound in the last one week.</p><p align="justify">After the new government took over, prices of several food items had eased from the level during the election time.</p><p align="justify">Traders say news of poor monsoon has now made pulses dearer, though the prices of wheat and rice have remained stable so far. However, if the rains are further delayed by a week or so, another round of increase also covering other items cannot be ruled out, say traders.</p><p align="justify">There has been an increase of around Rs200 to Rs300 a quintal in the prices of pulses like tur dal, moong, urad and gram in the wholesale market. Prices of onions, which had remained stable for a couple of weeks, have now increased by Rs40 a maund (per 40kg).</p><p align="justify">Prices of best quality tur dal have touched Rs6,600-6,800 a quintal as against Rs6,400 -6,500 in the wholesale market a week ago. In the retail market, the rate is Rs7,000-7,200 a quintal. Other varieties like urad, moong and chana (gram), have seen an increase of around Rs200 a quintal at least.</p><p align="justify">According to Pratap Motwani, secretary of The Itwari Wholesale Grain and Seeds Merchants Association, the rates of imported tur dal have gone up, pulling up that of the domestic variety. A hike in tur dal prices has pulled up that of other varieties of pulses.</p><p align="justify">However, fresh supplies of wheat have helped in reigning in its rates. However, if the rains are further delayed by a week or so, another round of increase also covering other items cannot be ruled out, say traders.</p><p align="justify">There has been an increase of around Rs200 to Rs300 a quintal in the prices of pulses like tur dal, moong, urad and gram in the wholesale market. Prices of onions, which had remained stable for a couple of weeks, have now increased by Rs40 a maund (per 40kg).</p><p align="justify">Prices of best quality tur dal have touched Rs6,600-6,800 a quintal as against Rs6,400 -6,500 in the wholesale market a week ago. In the retail market, the rate is Rs7,000-7,200 a quintal. Other varieties like urad, moong and chana (gram), have seen an increase of around Rs200 a quintal at least.</p><p align="justify">According to Pratap Motwani, secretary of The Itwari Wholesale Grain and Seeds Merchants Association, the rates of imported tur dal have gone up, pulling up that of the domestic variety. A hike in tur dal prices has pulled up that of other varieties of pulses.</p><p align="justify">However, fresh supplies of wheat have helped in reigning in its rates.
