$disp = '<div align="justify">-Outlook</div><p align="justify"><br /><em>Kolkata: </em>Providing a cheaper and eco-friendly alternative to auto-rickshaws, new e-rickshaws which runs on electric batteries was launched here today.</p><p align="justify">Categorised in between a pedal rickshaw and an auto-rickshaw, the battery-operated e-rickshaws can run upto a speed of 25 km per hour and can accommodate around 4-5 passengers.</p><p align="justify">"It is a zero emission vehicle and while running the engine produces no sound," Zafar Faridi, CEO of Dianzi rickshaw, told reporters after the launch.</p><p align="justify">In association with them, another company also launched e-rickshaws called Toto Rickshaws.</p><p align="justify">Around 150-200 such tricycles from both companies are already in trial operation in Topsia area of the city and Uttarpara, few kms away from Kolkata.</p><p align="justify">Faridi said they have now started selling the vehicle all over West Bengal.</p><p align="justify">The rickshaws have 48W batteries which can run upto 120 km after 7 hours of charge.</p><p align="justify">"It consumes only 3 units of electricity in single charge for which the cost is less than Rs 20. For the same distance travelled, the cost of LPG fuel in Kolkata's auto-rickshaws would cost around Rs 200. So our vehicle is much cheaper," he said.</p><p align="justify">The rickshaws from both the companies come in three models in both passenger and cargo segments with prices ranging from Rs 80,000 to Rs 125,000.</p>'
