They disfigured her face with a blade, poured acid on her face and left her for dead on a road in Muzaffarpur district. The victim is currently undergoing treatment at the Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital in Muzaffarpur. The incident took place on Monday.</p><p align="justify">&quot;This is an honour killing attempt. The family has confessed to the crime,&quot; Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters) Ravinder Kumar told reporters on Friday.</p><p align="justify">The police have identified six accused. Four of them, including the victim's father Chabila Mahato, brother-in-law Krishna Mahato and uncles Narayan and Rajendra are under arrest. Two other uncles, commander Mahato alias Ranjit and Dasai Mahato are absconding, Mr. Kumar said.</p><p align="justify">The family first tried to blame Rupesh Yadav, whom the victim wished to marry. She fled home to go to Bangalore, where Mr. Yadav worked. The family was opposed to the alliance and even Mr. Yadav had no intention of marrying the victim, Mr. Kumar said.</p><p align="justify">The victim had fled from home and reached Chennai early this month. Her brother-in-law went to fetch her after Mr. Yadav alerted the family. However, when they reached Muzaffarpur, they alighted from a bus at night, when other family members joined in to kill her.</p><p align="justify">The police have recorded the victim's statement, in which she wrongly accused Mr. Yadav, Mr. Kumar said.
