These include the Dilli Annashree Scheme, under which two lakh vulnerable households would be provided food subsidy of Rs.600 per month as cash transfer. The amount would be paid to the senior-most female member of each household. With this, Ms. Dikshit, said the Government will be able to cater substantially to “ roti , shiksha and swasthya ” needs of the poor. For this scheme, a sum of Rs.150 crore has been proposed in the Budget.

Ms. Dikshit said Delhi will also be made a kerosene-free city and the Government will provide a one-time subsidy of Rs.2,000 to about 1.75 lakh households for obtaining an LPG connection and purchase of a gas stove. An outlay of Rs.40 crore has been proposed in the current year for this scheme. She said as of now only about 5.3 per cent of all people use kerosene in Delhi. The scheme will allow them to switch to a cleaner fuel.
