It scrapped the minimum three-year residency period that was mandated for seeking admission under the quota in Delhi schools.</p><p align="justify">The Department issued a notification to all private-unaided schools in the capital acting on a High Court order last month.</p><p align="justify">Coming down heavily on the government for &quot;sub-classifying children belonging to weaker sections&quot; on basis of residency, the Delhi High Court had quashed the rule requiring migrant parents to stay in the city for three years continuously in order for their children to be admitted in a private school under the EWS category.</p><p align="justify">&quot;The High Court has restricted the meaning of child belonging to weaker section only to mean a child whose parents having a total annual income of less than Rs 1 lakh from all sources. The minimum residency period of three years for applying for admission under EWS/DG categories has been quashed.
