Delhi Congress president JP Aggarwal is an MP from northeast Delhi, which forms the other half of the east Delhi corporation. Two Delhi government ministers and the assembly deputy speaker are MLAs from east Delhi.&lt;br /&gt;

People came and told me before the elections that the party would do well in east Delhi. It is unfair (to blame me),&rdquo; Dikshit told HT on Wednesday.<br /><br />The chief minister has been blamed by some of her Congress colleagues for the party&rsquo;s poor tally of 78 seats &mdash; just 11 more than in the 2007 elections.<br /><br />The BJP bagged 137 of the 272 seats &mdash; 27 less than last time &mdash; but retained power.<br /><br />Dikshit said the opponents (BJP) brought national and state issues into the MCD polls and the Congress failed to counter this &ldquo;vicious and aggressive&rdquo; campaign. &ldquo;Price rise is not just a Delhi phenomenon. They (BJP) also blamed us for corruption, but couldn&rsquo;t establish any charge. We couldn&rsquo;t make the voters understand this,&rdquo; she said.<br /><br />The Congress shockingly failed to put up a good show even in the east Delhi municipal corporation. Half of the area falls under the east Delhi parliamentary constituency from where the chief minister&rsquo;s son, Sandeep Dikshit, is an MP.<br /><br />Delhi Congress president JP Aggarwal is an MP from northeast Delhi, which forms the other half of the east Delhi corporation. Two Delhi government ministers and the assembly deputy speaker are MLAs from east Delhi.<br /><br />&ldquo;There was a wave against the party throughout Delhi, including east Delhi. People came and told me before the elections that the party would do well in east Delhi. It wasn’t my election to win, says Sheila-Atul Mathur

-The Hindustan Times   Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit has said she is not to be blamed for the Congress’s defeat in the MCD elections and that there was a wave against the party in the Capital. “These weren’t my (Delhi government) elections. I wasn’t contesting them. The outcome is not my responsibility solely. I worked in these elections as a party worker. It is unfair (to blame me),” Dikshit told HT on Wednesday. The chief minister has been blamed by some of her Congress colleagues for the party’s poor tally of 78 seats — just 11 more than in the 2007 elections. The BJP bagged 137 of the 272 seats — 27 less than last time — but retained power. Dikshit said the opponents (BJP) brought national and state issues into the MCD polls and the Congress failed to counter this “vicious and aggressive” campaign. “Price rise is not just a Delhi phenomenon. They (BJP) also blamed us for corruption, but couldn’t establish any charge. We couldn’t make the voters understand this,” she said. The Congress shockingly failed to put up a good show even in the east Delhi municipal corporation. Half of the area falls under the east Delhi parliamentary constituency from where the chief minister’s son, Sandeep Dikshit, is an MP. Delhi Congress president JP Aggarwal is an MP from northeast Delhi, which forms the other half of the east Delhi corporation. Two Delhi government ministers and the assembly deputy speaker are MLAs from east Delhi. “There was a wave against the party throughout Delhi, including east Delhi. People came and told me before the elections that the party would do well in east Delhi. It’s difficult to judge the mood of the people,” reasoned Dikshit, promising a thorough analysis of the results. “In 2007, we lost the MCD elections badly but won the assembly and parliamentary elections in the subsequent years. We have to keep working hard,” she said.
