If a woman dies or commits suicide after sexual exploitation, the proposed bill would enable a court to hand out the death sentence to the convict.<br /><br /><em>Maharashtra to make rape non-bailable<br /></em><br /><em>Mumbai: </em>The Maharashtra government is likely to move towards making heinous crimes such as rape and molestation non-bailable for which it is likely to move an amendment.<br /><br />In a discussion that took place at the Justice CS Dharmadhikari committee meeting at Mantralaya on Wednesday, home minister RR Patil is said to have asked the law and judiciary department to examine how to initiate the proposal and not to wait for Parliament to make an amendment.<br /><br />Along with this amendment, there is also a proposal to double jail terms for such crimes.<br /><br />The committee was appointed in October 2010 to examine, among other things, the need to amend sections of the Indian Penal Code relating to outraging the modesty of a woman.<br /><br /><em>Woman gangraped in front of husband<br /></em><br />HTC, Lucknow: A 48-year-old Dalit woman was allegedly gangraped by a group of seven robbers in front of her husband in Hathras&rsquo;s Purdil Nagar area late on Tuesday.<br /></div><div align="justify">&nbsp;</div><div align="justify">After leaving the woman critically injured, the robbers fled with cash and jewellery.<br /><br />The victim, who suffered serious injuries on her head, is undergoing treatment at Aligarh Medical College. Announcing this here on Wednesday, chief minister Oommen Chandy said the court would be set up in Kochi immediately. &ldquo;We have decided to sanction 18 new posts to set up a new additional and district court in Kochi. This court would deal only with cases pertaining to exploitation of women and children,&rdquo; he said.<br /><br />A string of sexual assault cases against minors, especially by their own relatives, had shaken the state recently. Expressing concern over the matter earlier, the Kerala high court had asked the government to set up a fast-track court to deal with these cases.<br /><br />The state is also planning to introduce a bill to protect the rights of women. If a woman dies or commits suicide after sexual exploitation, the proposed bill would enable a court to hand out the death sentence to the convict.<br /><br /><em>Maharashtra to make rape non-bailable<br /></em><br /><em>Mumbai: </em>The Maharashtra government is likely to move towards making heinous crimes such as rape and molestation non-bailable for which it is likely to move an amendment.<br /><br />In a discussion that took place at the Justice CS Dharmadhikari committee meeting at Mantralaya on Wednesday, home minister RR Patil is said to have asked the law and judiciary department to examine how to initiate the proposal and not to wait for Parliament to make an amendment.<br /><br />Along with this amendment, there is also a proposal to double jail terms for such crimes.<br /><br />The committee was appointed in October 2010 to examine, among other things, the need to amend sections of the Indian Penal Code relating to outraging the modesty of a woman.<br /><br /><em>Woman gangraped in front of husband<br /></em><br />HTC, Lucknow: A 48-year-old Dalit woman was allegedly gangraped by a group of seven robbers in front of her husband in Hathras&rsquo;s Purdil Nagar area late on Tuesday.<br /></div><div align="justify">&nbsp;</div><div align="justify">After leaving the woman critically injured, the robbers fled with cash and jewellery.<br /><br />The victim, who suffered serious injuries on her head, is undergoing treatment at Aligarh Medical College. Police, meanwhile, have arrested two suspects and is interrogating them.</div>'
