Tomorrow, the 12 farmers are expected to receive the deeds from district magistrate (DM) Sripriya Rengarajan&rsquo;s office in Chinsurah.<br /><br />The farmers will not be getting their original plots, though, but it didn&rsquo;t seem to bother them. The plots selected for return have not been levelled or overlaid with concrete and are covered with tall grass. &ldquo;They are cultivable,&rdquo; said Haripal MLA Becharam Manna, a member of the 19-member panel set up to facilitate land return.<br /><br />&ldquo;I&rsquo;m very happy with the plot I&rsquo;m told I will get,&rdquo; said Jugal Kolay, 65, who had one bigha taken from him.<br /><br />&ldquo;The land taken from me belonged to my ancestors, but the plot I shall be getting too is convenient because I have two more bighas near it. The 12 farmers had already been selected.<br /><br />Around 4.30pm, Chandernagore subdivisional officer Abhijit Mitra, block development officer (BDO) Pulak Sarkar and MLA Manna arrived to supervise the survey. &ldquo;We identified 11.5 bighas for distribution,&rdquo; Manna said.<br /><br />Around 5.30, a leader of the Save Farmland Committee told the farmers they would get their land this evening. The Bengal government has decided to start returning Singur land from tomorrow, the day the Supreme Court will begin hearing a Tata Motors plea for a stay on the process.&lt;br /&gt;

About 3.8 acres from the former Nano site&amp;rsquo;s southeastern part were identified today for distribution among 12 farmers from Gopalnagar, setting off celebrations.&lt;br /&gt;

Initially, the administration announced the plots would be handed over this evening but later put it off by a day. Tomorrow, the 12 farmers are expected to receive the deeds from district magistrate (DM) Sripriya Rengarajan&amp;rsquo;s office in Chinsurah.&lt;br /&gt;

The farmers will not be getting their original plots, though, but it didn&amp;rsquo;t seem to bother them. The plots selected for return have not been levelled or overlaid with concrete and are covered with tall grass. &amp;ldquo;They are cultivable,&amp;rdquo; said Haripal MLA Becharam Manna, a member of the 19-member panel set up to facilitate land return.&lt;br /&gt;

Some 50 surveyors from Calcutta&amp;rsquo;s Alipore survey office arrived at 10am and began measuring plots in Gopalnagar. The 12 farmers had already been selected.&lt;br /&gt;

Around 4.30pm, Chandernagore subdivisional officer Abhijit Mitra, block development officer (BDO) Pulak Sarkar and MLA Manna arrived to supervise the survey. &amp;ldquo;We identified 11.5 bighas for distribution,&amp;rdquo; Manna said.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Around 5.30, a leader of the Save Farmland Committee told the farmers they would get their land this evening. But at 8.15, district officials said the farmers&amp;rsquo; application forms were still being scrutinised.&lt;br /&gt;

Tomorrow, the 12 farmers will go to the DM&amp;rsquo;s office and produce their original documents, which will be matched against their entries in the application forms. &amp;ldquo;The DM will hold a hearing for the farmers before handing over the deeds,&amp;rdquo; an official said.&lt;br /&gt;

Of the 3,000-odd forms the government had handed out on Sunday, &amp;ldquo;unwilling&amp;rdquo; farmers had submitted 1,230 at the BDO&amp;rsquo;s office by 7.30pm today.&lt;br /&gt;

An official said the filled-in forms are being sent for scrutiny under three categories: A (plots involving no legal hassles), B (mutation pending) and C (under litigation).&lt;br /&gt;

Category A plots are to be returned first. The 12 selected farmers belong to the A category. &amp;ldquo;They were among the first to submit their forms on Sunday,&amp;rdquo; an official said.&lt;br /&gt;
