Sudhakar Reddy too wrote to the Prime Minister last year. Mr. Reddy sought an investigation because he felt that the role of corporate lobbyist Niira Radia was becoming suspicious. Left to intensify agitation against telecom scam by Sandeep Dikshit

Gurudas Dasgupta wrote to Prime Minister in 2008 “Manmohan did not act on Sudhakar Reddy's letter too” The Left parties will join hands with secular parties to turn up the heat on the government on the 2G spectrum controversy, Communist Party of India national secretary Amarjeet Kaur said on Sunday. “The Left parties have decided to further intensify the agitation against the telecom scam by holding major rallies in at least six metros,” she told newspersons on the sidelines of a function to commemorate 85 years of the party's foundation. “The parties that are expected to join us include the All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, the Janata Dal (Secular), the Biju Janata Dal and the Telugu Desam Party,'' she said. Joint rallies The joint rallies are likely to be held in Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar and Kolkata. The CPI leader expressed dismay at the “lack of adequate attention by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh” to a letter written by party leader Gurudas Dasgupta in 2008 on the warning signals of an emerging scam and asking for his intervention. Party leader S. Sudhakar Reddy too wrote to the Prime Minister last year. Mr. Reddy sought an investigation because he felt that the role of corporate lobbyist Niira Radia was becoming suspicious. The Prime Minister did not act on this letter either, Ms. Kaur claimed. “This was not something new going on. Mr. Dasgupta's letter drew attention to the unusual goings on in the Telecom Ministry since 2003,'' she said. Commemoration The commemoration meeting honoured freedom fighter Wazir Chand and Anand Gupta, both veteran Communists. They reminisced on their active life in the party.
