Action, however, will depend on whether a government functionary or a dalit will now come forward to challenge the chief minister's latest diktat.</font></p><p align="justify"><font >Notably, earlier this year, the UP government approached the high court to defend its April 24 order, which made it mandatory to appoint female cooks from the reserved categories, and who were related to at least one of the children enrolled in the said school. A senior UP MDM official, said: &quot;As per the Centre-state agreement, 75% of the money was given by the Centre. The remaining was spent by the state. We won't need to return the money to the Centre. Whatever is not spent will be carried forward and adjusted against utilisation certificates and a record of the closing balance.'' </font></p><p align="justify"><font >As per the current budgetary allocation, UP will spend Rs 337 crore towards the implementation of the MDM scheme in 2010-11.
