A three-member team from the National Inspection and Monitoring Committee was in for a shock last week after it caught a radiologist red-handed with his mobile ultrasound machine at a bus-stop in Doddaballapur, 43km from Bangalore.</p><p align="justify">The modus operandi was simple: The radiologist would come twice a week to the bus-stop where his agents would turn up with prospective clients -- pregnant women keen on knowing the sex of their babies so that they could abort them if they were girls.</p><p align="justify">The committee, which was in Bangalore as part of nationwide raids on ultrasound clinics and hospitals, found grave irregularities in the implementation of the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (Prohibition Of Sex Selection) Act in the state.</p><p align="justify">&quot;We found unauthorized persons doing ultrasonography on pregnant women.
