The farmers should also be allotted developed land measuring up to 10 per cent of the land acquired from them.<br /><br />In the three villages where acquisition proceedings were quashed, the land should be restored to the petitioners (villagers), &ldquo;subject to their depositing the compensation already paid to them.&rdquo;<br /><br />The acquisition notifications were issued on May 26, 2009, June 22, 2009, September 6, 2007, January 27, 2010 and February 2, 2010.<br /><br />A special Bench of Justices Ashok Bhushan, S.U. Khan and V.K. Shukla directed the Greater Noida (Development Authority) and &ldquo;its allottees&rdquo; not to carry out any development work, and the Master Plan 2021 would not be implemented &ldquo;till the observations and directions of the National Capital Region Planning Board are incorporated.&rdquo;<br /><br />More importantly, the court directed the Chief Secretary to order a probe by officers not below the rank of Principal Secretary into the decision to change the land use (pattern); the allotments made to builders; and the land acquisition proposals.<br /><br />The landmark judgment, running to 387 pages, was delivered after the court heard arguments on 471 writ petitions filed by the farmers. These were clubbed (writ petition number 37443 of 2011 Gajraj and others versus State of Uttar Pradesh and others).<br /><br />Of the 471, the court dismissed 20 petitions filed by farmers of Nithari, Sadarpur, Khoda, Sultanpur, Chaura Sadatpur and Alaverdipur.
