PIL in SC: CCTVs in class may spur stalking, voyeurism

NEW DELHI: The Delhi government's decision to install CCTV cameras in classrooms of state-run schools and provide a live feed to parents has been challenged by a law student on the grounds that this violates the right to privacy of adolescent girls and female teachers.

The Supreme Court on Friday sought the AAP government's response to the PIL that seeks scrapping of the decision. The Delhi government had decided on September 11, 2017, to install CCTV cameras in classrooms and three months later announced that live feed will be made available to parents. The government said it had taken the decision to prevent child abuse in schools.
