                <div align="justify">-PTI</div><p align="justify"><br /><em>NEW DELHI: </em>The Planning Commission today approved a plan size of Rs 16,626 crore for Delhi for 2013-14, up 4.8 per cent from the previous fiscal.</p><p align="justify">It was at Rs 15,862 crore for 2012-13. The plan size was decided here at a meeting between Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia and Delhi Chief Minister Delhi Sheila Dikshit.</p><p align="justify">&quot;We have reviewed all aspects of the Delhi economy. Citizen services in Delhi over the years have improved hugely in transport, delivery of water, e-services, e-tendering, health and education, social welfare and pensions.</p><p align="justify">&quot;We have approved the plan which is Rs 16,626 crore, it is a big increase from the actual levels achieved in last year,&quot; Ahluwalia told reporters after the meeting.</p><p align="justify">He also said that the Commission has been emphasising on taking more steps to improve the sewerage system in the state.</p><p align="justify">The Delhi government has introduced a sewerage treatment scheme which is almost 40 per cent complete and the work is underway.</p><p align="justify">&quot;We also discussed power situation in terms of quality of the power being produced. There is a distinct improvement over many years. In the area of water, whatever the Delhi government had to do, they have done. Now to bring water, for that, some action is needed by other states and there are some problems in that,&quot; Ahluwalia said.</p><p align="justify">However, he said water distribution in the state has improved considerably. And in many areas pilot projects have been started for 24x7 water supply.</p><p align="justify">Dikshit expressed confidence that the state will be able to utilise the funds properly. However, there will be three-four months when they will not be able to utilise the funds because of code of conduct for the upcoming legislative elections in the state.</p><p align="justify">&quot;So we are trying to make the plan as per our spending now so that we don't have any interruptions later on,&quot; she said.</p><p align="justify">&quot;... we will continue to improve and we will continue to work and utilise the funds we have. We have also requested the Planning Commission to help us get more funds from the central government,&quot; she said.</p><p align="justify">The Chief Minister said the state has taken a number of initiatives for the improvement of health services.</p><p align="justify">A world class skill development centre is being set up at Jonapur under PPP in collaboration with ITE Singapore, she said adding around 15,000 youth will benefit annually from the facility. </p>               </font>

There is a distinct improvement over many years. In the area of water, whatever the Delhi government had to do, they have done. Now to bring water, for that, some action is needed by other states and there are some problems in that,&quot; Ahluwalia said.</p><p align="justify">However, he said water distribution in the state has improved considerably. And in many areas pilot projects have been started for 24x7 water supply.</p><p align="justify">Dikshit expressed confidence that the state will be able to utilise the funds properly. However, there will be three-four months when they will not be able to utilise the funds because of code of conduct for the upcoming legislative elections in the state.</p><p align="justify">&quot;So we are trying to make the plan as per our spending now so that we don't have any interruptions later on,&quot; she said.</p><p align="justify">&quot;... we will continue to improve and we will continue to work and utilise the funds we have.
