Congress president Sonia Gandhi may also be consulted before finalising the poverty numbers. The Tendulkar panel will finalise the new poverty numbers by the end of this month and present it to an empowered group of ministers on the Food Security Bill for its approval. </font></p><p align="justify"><font >The higher figure suggested by the committee is expected to result in an additional subsidy outgo of more than Rs 6,000 crore annually.
