At present food security committees are running at the village level which raise awareness and monitor the existing PDS system.

While building a community monitoring model for the Public Distribution System (PDS) was the main thrust of this process, the community members were facilitated to lead the process of monitoring with a well designed monitoring tool.
</p>
<p align="justify">
As a result of having such groups there has been effective people's participation and things have looked up in the food distribution system at least in the fourteen gram panchayats of Kundra block.
</p>
<p align="justify">
&quot;As part of the initiative, electronic weighing machine for proper measurement were installed at PDS shops, card holders accessed three litres of kerosene which was a litre more than last year. Further two GP level advisory committee were activated, about 100 left out poor families were issued PLO card and the people in these fourteen operational villages of CYSD received rice as per the provision,&quot; Mr Swain added.

Public hearings on the issue of proper management of PDS were organised in Ghumar, Mossigaon and Asana panchayat where more than 600 PDS beneficiaries interacted with the higher officials and people's representatives.
</p>

Complaints and grievances were filed through Sanjog helpline and through sending post cards to the concerned authorities which were addressed by the officials effectively, Mr Swain said .

While building a community monitoring model for the Public Distribution System (PDS) was the main thrust of this process, the community members were facilitated to lead the process of monitoring with a well designed monitoring tool.

As a result of having such groups there has been effective people's participation and things have looked up in the food distribution system at least in the fourteen gram panchayats of Kundra block.
</p>

&quot;As part of the initiative, electronic weighing machine for proper measurement were installed at PDS shops, card holders accessed three litres of kerosene which was a litre more than last year. Further two GP level advisory committee were activated, about 100 left out poor families were issued PLO card and the people in these fourteen operational villages of CYSD received rice as per the provision,&quot; Mr Swain added.

Public hearings on the issue of proper management of PDS were organised in Ghumar, Mossigaon and Asana panchayat where more than 600 PDS beneficiaries interacted with the higher officials and people's representatives.

Complaints and grievances were filed through Sanjog helpline and through sending post cards to the concerned authorities which were addressed by the officials effectively, Mr Swain said .
