<p style="text-align:justify">According to the official communique: &ldquo;The programme, aimed at boosting livelihood opportunities in rural India, will create durable infrastructure along with boosting employment opportunities.&rdquo;</p>

<p style="text-align:justify">The scheme is being propagated in media and the public as a new programme to generate employment opportunities in rural India for migrant workers returning home amid the coronavirus outbreak and lockdown.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify">A closer look reveals that there is nothing new in the scheme. It is just 25 existing schemes bundled together in the name of providing jobs to migrant workers.</p>
