Osmanabad residents told TOI that the district had received heavy rainfall during the past 48 hours with different streams, waterway and tributaries overflowing for the first time. Beed district, which has reported the highest number of farmer suicides, has recorded 31.55 % of average annual rainfall, from earlier 28.91 % by Sunday. Marathwada region has received only 37.16% of average annual rainfall of 779 mm between June and October. Aurangabad has received highest percentage (45.92%) of average annual rainfall in the region, so far, followed by Hingoli (42.1%), Jalna (42.09%) and Nanded (37.18 %).&lt;br /&gt;

Agronomists associated with the Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Agricultural University (VNMKV), Parbhani, said the recent spell of monsoon would benefit kharif and rabi crops. &amp;quot;The various standing kharif crops like soybean would benefit the most due to the rain. Soybean crops have started bearing fruits and it would receive further nourishment now. The rainfall would also prove conducive for rabi crop sowing. Ideally, sowing for jowar (sorghum) should take place by September 15,&amp;quot; said Dinesh Lomte, Agronomist associated with the national agricultural research project of VNMKV.&lt;br /&gt;

The sudden heavy showers brought cheer to the farming community that has been worried about the survival of the kharif crop.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Barring Aurangabad district, widespread showers were observed in the seven districts of Marathwada region on Monday. Around 21 areas from Marathwada have recorded more than 50 mm rain, which falls under the &#039;excess rainfall&#039; category.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Monsoon conditions revived in the city and many parts of Aurangabad district since Tuesday morning with occasional spells of heavy rainfall. The India Meteorological Department has forecast moderate rain over the next 48-72 hours for Aurangabad district.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As per data available with the revenue department, Parbhani district recorded maximum rainfall of 23.51 mm on Monday, followed by Hingoli (22.47mm), Osmanabad (16.11 mm), Latur (13.12mm), Nanded (12.54 mm), Jalna (10.06 mm) and Beed (9.7 mm). Aurangabad district registered only 0.87 mm rain.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The continuing showers on Tuesday meant that Hingoli received a total of 94 mm rain, Sawargaon from Osmanabad district got 88 mm rain and Malegaon (84 mm) and Bhokar (80 mm) from Nanded district recorded the highest rainfall in Marathwada during the 24 hours ending at 8.30am on Tuesday.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Osmanabad residents told TOI that the district had received heavy rainfall during the past 48 hours with different streams, waterway and tributaries overflowing for the first time. The percentage of average annual rainfall received by the parched district has gone up to 29.37% on Tuesday morning from 27.02 % recorded on Sunday.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Parbhani district had received around 25.47 % of average annual rainfall till the last weekend, which has gone up to 29.21 % by Tuesday. Latur district has also shown improvement in the average annual rainfall from 29.89% to 32.44 % over a period of around 48 hours.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Beed district, which has reported the highest number of farmer suicides, has recorded 31.55 % of average annual rainfall, from earlier 28.91 % by Sunday. Marathwada region has received only 37.16% of average annual rainfall of 779 mm between June and October. Aurangabad has received highest percentage (45.92%) of average annual rainfall in the region, so far, followed by Hingoli (42.1%), Jalna (42.09%) and Nanded (37.18 %).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Agronomists associated with the Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Agricultural University (VNMKV), Parbhani, said the recent spell of monsoon would benefit kharif and rabi crops. &amp;quot;The various standing kharif crops like soybean would benefit the most due to the rain. Soybean crops have started bearing fruits and it would receive further nourishment now. The rainfall would also prove conducive for rabi crop sowing. The sudden heavy showers brought cheer to the farming community that has been worried about the survival of the kharif crop.<br /><br />Barring Aurangabad district, widespread showers were observed in the seven districts of Marathwada region on Monday. Around 21 areas from Marathwada have recorded more than 50 mm rain, which falls under the 'excess rainfall' category.<br /><br />Monsoon conditions revived in the city and many parts of Aurangabad district since Tuesday morning with occasional spells of heavy rainfall. The India Meteorological Department has forecast moderate rain over the next 48-72 hours for Aurangabad district.<br /><br />As per data available with the revenue department, Parbhani district recorded maximum rainfall of 23.51 mm on Monday, followed by Hingoli (22.47mm), Osmanabad (16.11 mm), Latur (13.12mm), Nanded (12.54 mm), Jalna (10.06 mm) and Beed (9.7 mm). Aurangabad district registered only 0.87 mm rain.<br /><br />The continuing showers on Tuesday meant that Hingoli received a total of 94 mm rain, Sawargaon from Osmanabad district got 88 mm rain and Malegaon (84 mm) and Bhokar (80 mm) from Nanded district recorded the highest rainfall in Marathwada during the 24 hours ending at 8.30am on Tuesday.<br /><br />Osmanabad residents told TOI that the district had received heavy rainfall during the past 48 hours with different streams, waterway and tributaries overflowing for the first time. The percentage of average annual rainfall received by the parched district has gone up to 29.37% on Tuesday morning from 27.02 % recorded on Sunday.<br /><br />Parbhani district had received around 25.47 % of average annual rainfall till the last weekend, which has gone up to 29.21 % by Tuesday. Latur district has also shown improvement in the average annual rainfall from 29.89% to 32.44 % over a period of around 48 hours.<br /><br />Beed district, which has reported the highest number of farmer suicides, has recorded 31.55 % of average annual rainfall, from earlier 28.91 % by Sunday. Marathwada region has received only 37.16% of average annual rainfall of 779 mm between June and October. Aurangabad has received highest percentage (45.92%) of average annual rainfall in the region, so far, followed by Hingoli (42.1%), Jalna (42.09%) and Nanded (37.18 %).<br /><br />Agronomists associated with the Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Agricultural University (VNMKV), Parbhani, said the recent spell of monsoon would benefit kharif and rabi crops. &quot;The various standing kharif crops like soybean would benefit the most due to the rain. Soybean crops have started bearing fruits and it would receive further nourishment now. The rainfall would also prove conducive for rabi crop sowing. The sudden heavy showers brought cheer to the farming community that has been worried about the survival of the kharif crop.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Barring Aurangabad district, widespread showers were observed in the seven districts of Marathwada region on Monday. Around 21 areas from Marathwada have recorded more than 50 mm rain, which falls under the &#039;excess rainfall&#039; category.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Monsoon conditions revived in the city and many parts of Aurangabad district since Tuesday morning with occasional spells of heavy rainfall. The India Meteorological Department has forecast moderate rain over the next 48-72 hours for Aurangabad district.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
As per data available with the revenue department, Parbhani district recorded maximum rainfall of 23.51 mm on Monday, followed by Hingoli (22.47mm), Osmanabad (16.11 mm), Latur (13.12mm), Nanded (12.54 mm), Jalna (10.06 mm) and Beed (9.7 mm). Aurangabad district registered only 0.87 mm rain.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The continuing showers on Tuesday meant that Hingoli received a total of 94 mm rain, Sawargaon from Osmanabad district got 88 mm rain and Malegaon (84 mm) and Bhokar (80 mm) from Nanded district recorded the highest rainfall in Marathwada during the 24 hours ending at 8.30am on Tuesday.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Osmanabad residents told TOI that the district had received heavy rainfall during the past 48 hours with different streams, waterway and tributaries overflowing for the first time. The percentage of average annual rainfall received by the parched district has gone up to 29.37% on Tuesday morning from 27.02 % recorded on Sunday.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Parbhani district had received around 25.47 % of average annual rainfall till the last weekend, which has gone up to 29.21 % by Tuesday. Latur district has also shown improvement in the average annual rainfall from 29.89% to 32.44 % over a period of around 48 hours.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Beed district, which has reported the highest number of farmer suicides, has recorded 31.55 % of average annual rainfall, from earlier 28.91 % by Sunday. Marathwada region has received only 37.16% of average annual rainfall of 779 mm between June and October. Aurangabad has received highest percentage (45.92%) of average annual rainfall in the region, so far, followed by Hingoli (42.1%), Jalna (42.09%) and Nanded (37.18 %).&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Agronomists associated with the Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Agricultural University (VNMKV), Parbhani, said the recent spell of monsoon would benefit kharif and rabi crops. &amp;quot;The various standing kharif crops like soybean would benefit the most due to the rain. Soybean crops have started bearing fruits and it would receive further nourishment now. The rainfall would also prove conducive for rabi crop sowing. Ideally, sowing for jowar (sorghum) should take place by September 15,&amp;quot; said Dinesh Lomte, Agronomist associated with the national agricultural research project of VNMKV.&lt;br /&gt;

P S Tambi, assistant chief engineer with Godavari Marathwada Irrigation Development Corporation, said recent rainfall would not lead to any considerable increase in storage of major and medium irrigation projects in the region.&lt;br /&gt;

&amp;quot;Many parched areas of Marathwada have received rainfall after a long gap. Therefore, most of the water is expected to percolate in the soil. Water levels can rise only in small irrigation projects,&amp;quot; he told ToI on Tuesday.&lt;br /&gt;

As per data available with the state irrigation department, collective water storage in the 11 major and 75 medium projects was stagnant at 8%, while 728 small irrigation projects had 5% stock by Tuesday.&lt;br /&gt;

Parched areas in Ahmednagar, Sangli, Solapur and Osmanabad districts received good rainfall in last 24 hours. Some areas such as Parner, Jamkhed, Pathardi Shrigonda in Ahmednagar and Jat, Khanapur and Atpadi in Sangli district received showers for the first time in almost 40 to 45 days.&lt;br /&gt;

Jat taluka received 24.5 mm rain in last 24 hours, while other areas received between 10 mm to 20 mm rainfall. Solapur and Osmanabad witnessed intermittent showers throughout Monday night, which continued on Tuesday. Mangalwedha, Karmala, Barshi and Sangola, where only 25% to 40% rainfall occurred in last three months, also received good showers over the last two days.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Ahmednagar district has registered only 42% rainfall so far and the recent showers may ease a bit of the fodder requirement. State cabinet on Monday have decided to open fodder camps in Solapur, Ahmednagar and Parbhani district to save the cattle in the areas. &lt;br /&gt;

Aurangabad has received highest percentage (45.92%) of average annual rainfall in the region, so far, followed by Hingoli (42.1%), Jalna (42.09%) and Nanded (37.18 %). Agronomists associated with the Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Agricultural University (VNMKV), Parbhani, said the recent spell of monsoon would benefit kharif and rabi crops. "The various standing kharif crops like soybean would benefit the most due to the rain. Soybean crops have started bearing fruits and it would receive further nourishment now. The rainfall would also prove conducive for rabi crop sowing. Ideally, sowing for jowar (sorghum) should take place by September 15," said Dinesh Lomte, Agronomist associated with the national agricultural research project of VNMKV. P S Tambi, assistant chief engineer with Godavari Marathwada Irrigation Development Corporation, said recent rainfall would not lead to any considerable increase in storage of major and medium irrigation projects in the region. "Many parched areas of Marathwada have received rainfall after a long gap. Therefore, most of the water is expected to percolate in the soil. Water levels can rise only in small irrigation projects," he told ToI on Tuesday. As per data available with the state irrigation department, collective water storage in the 11 major and 75 medium projects was stagnant at 8%, while 728 small irrigation projects had 5% stock by Tuesday. Parched areas in Ahmednagar, Sangli, Solapur and Osmanabad districts received good rainfall in last 24 hours. Some areas such as Parner, Jamkhed, Pathardi Shrigonda in Ahmednagar and Jat, Khanapur and Atpadi in Sangli district received showers for the first time in almost 40 to 45 days. Jat taluka received 24.5 mm rain in last 24 hours, while other areas received between 10 mm to 20 mm rainfall. Solapur and Osmanabad witnessed intermittent showers throughout Monday night, which continued on Tuesday. Mangalwedha, Karmala, Barshi and Sangola, where only 25% to 40% rainfall occurred in last three months, also received good showers over the last two days. Ahmednagar district has registered only 42% rainfall so far and the recent showers may ease a bit of the fodder requirement. State cabinet on Monday have decided to open fodder camps in Solapur, Ahmednagar and Parbhani district to save the cattle in the areas.
