Aimed to study the socio-economic conditions of farmers, the Central government covered 214 villages and surveyed 1,635 households in Rajasthan. The report is based on the survey conducted between January and December 2013. The report said that there are about 78.4% agriculture households in the state among its total rural households. The report estimated that there are 65 lakh such households in Rajasthan, the maximum in the country, followed by Uttar Pradesh (74.8%) and Madhya Pradesh (70.8%).&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Among other observations, the report mentioned that Rajasthan has maximum number of households (1.7%) which have a landholding of 10 hectares or more. It is even higher than Punjab where it stands at 1.4%. However, nearly 34% farmers in Rajasthan own land measuring between 0.41 hectare and 1 hectare.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
All the landholdings, however, are not in the form of farmlands. Nearly 92% of farmers have homesteads and other land. Only 7.3% farmers have land that is only used for agriculture purpose. &amp;quot;There are huge chunks of fields in rural Rajasthan that are not arable. Either they are used for grazing purpose or for commercial activities. Therefore, the landholdings are high but the actual farmlands are less in the state,&amp;quot; said Nagendra Khangarot, an agriculture expert.&lt;br /&gt;

Apart from that, the literacy level among the farmers is low compared to other states. Only 60.2% male farmers and 24.5 female farmers have got any formal education. Meanwhile, Rajasthan has performed better than other states in providing MGNREGA job cards to the farmers. About 71.3% farmers have job cards. In the report 'Characteristics of Agricultural Households in India' released by the Union government, Rajasthan even scores high on landholding by households.<br /><br />Aimed to study the socio-economic conditions of farmers, the Central government covered 214 villages and surveyed 1,635 households in Rajasthan. The report is based on the survey conducted between January and December 2013. The report said that there are about 78.4% agriculture households in the state among its total rural households. The report estimated that there are 65 lakh such households in Rajasthan, the maximum in the country, followed by Uttar Pradesh (74.8%) and Madhya Pradesh (70.8%).<br /><br />Among other observations, the report mentioned that Rajasthan has maximum number of households (1.7%) which have a landholding of 10 hectares or more. It is even higher than Punjab where it stands at 1.4%. However, nearly 34% farmers in Rajasthan own land measuring between 0.41 hectare and 1 hectare.<br /><br />All the landholdings, however, are not in the form of farmlands. Nearly 92% of farmers have homesteads and other land. Only 7.3% farmers have land that is only used for agriculture purpose. &quot;There are huge chunks of fields in rural Rajasthan that are not arable. Either they are used for grazing purpose or for commercial activities. In the report &#039;Characteristics of Agricultural Households in India&#039; released by the Union government, Rajasthan even scores high on landholding by households.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Aimed to study the socio-economic conditions of farmers, the Central government covered 214 villages and surveyed 1,635 households in Rajasthan. The report is based on the survey conducted between January and December 2013. The report said that there are about 78.4% agriculture households in the state among its total rural households. The report estimated that there are 65 lakh such households in Rajasthan, the maximum in the country, followed by Uttar Pradesh (74.8%) and Madhya Pradesh (70.8%).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Among other observations, the report mentioned that Rajasthan has maximum number of households (1.7%) which have a landholding of 10 hectares or more. It is even higher than Punjab where it stands at 1.4%. However, nearly 34% farmers in Rajasthan own land measuring between 0.41 hectare and 1 hectare.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;All the landholdings, however, are not in the form of farmlands. Nearly 92% of farmers have homesteads and other land. Only 7.3% farmers have land that is only used for agriculture purpose. &amp;quot;There are huge chunks of fields in rural Rajasthan that are not arable. Either they are used for grazing purpose or for commercial activities. Rajasthan has max rural families engaged in agri in country

-The Times of India Jaipur: Among all the major states, Rajasthan has the highest percentage of households (78.4%) into agriculture in rural areas and the second highest MGNREGA card holders in the country. In the report 'Characteristics of Agricultural Households in India' released by the Union government, Rajasthan even scores high on landholding by households. Aimed to study the socio-economic conditions of farmers, the Central government covered 214 villages and surveyed 1,635 households in Rajasthan. The report is based on the survey conducted between January and December 2013. The report said that there are about 78.4% agriculture households in the state among its total rural households. The report estimated that there are 65 lakh such households in Rajasthan, the maximum in the country, followed by Uttar Pradesh (74.8%) and Madhya Pradesh (70.8%). Among other observations, the report mentioned that Rajasthan has maximum number of households (1.7%) which have a landholding of 10 hectares or more. It is even higher than Punjab where it stands at 1.4%. However, nearly 34% farmers in Rajasthan own land measuring between 0.41 hectare and 1 hectare. All the landholdings, however, are not in the form of farmlands. Nearly 92% of farmers have homesteads and other land. Only 7.3% farmers have land that is only used for agriculture purpose. "There are huge chunks of fields in rural Rajasthan that are not arable. Either they are used for grazing purpose or for commercial activities. Therefore, the landholdings are high but the actual farmlands are less in the state," said Nagendra Khangarot, an agriculture expert. Apart from that, the literacy level among the farmers is low compared to other states. Only 60.2% male farmers and 24.5 female farmers have got any formal education. Besides, the proportion of farmers taking any formal training in agriculture is also extremely low. Only 5% farmers have got any formal training in the state. Meanwhile, Rajasthan has performed better than other states in providing MGNREGA job cards to the farmers. About 71.3% farmers have job cards. The Rajasthan is next only to Telangana (then undivided AP), in this matter.
