An application was filed by police before judicial magistrate (first class) R D Hazare at the Wadgaon Maval court. Arguments will be taken up on January 21. </font></p><p align="justify"><font >Police said Santosh Shinde, in a statement, said he had accepted a supari of Rs 1 lakh in October 2008 from Dabhade to kill Shetty but later refused, saying the RTI activist was working for the benefit of the common man. Police also recorded the statement of Shetty&rsquo;s friend Shantaram Takle. Both statements were recorded before the magistrate today.</font></p><p align="justify"><font >Four persons &mdash; Dabhade, Parshuram Telgu alias Jakkal, Pramod Dattatraya Waghmare and Hanumanta Dongre alias Rathod &mdash; have been arrested. Police claimed Rathod was actually involved in the January 13 attack on Shetty who was chased and hacked to death while on a morning walk. An application was filed by police before judicial magistrate (first class) R D Hazare at the Wadgaon Maval court. Arguments will be taken up on January 21. </font></p><p align="justify"><font >Police said Santosh Shinde, in a statement, said he had accepted a supari of Rs 1 lakh in October 2008 from Dabhade to kill Shetty but later refused, saying the RTI activist was working for the benefit of the common man. Police also recorded the statement of Shetty&rsquo;s friend Shantaram Takle. Both statements were recorded before the magistrate today.</font></p><p align="justify"><font >Four persons &mdash; Dabhade, Parshuram Telgu alias Jakkal, Pramod Dattatraya Waghmare and Hanumanta Dongre alias Rathod &mdash; have been arrested. Police claimed Rathod was actually involved in the January 13 attack on Shetty who was chased and hacked to death while on a morning walk. Rathod is in police custody until January 28. </font></p><p align="justify"><font >Inspector Bhausaheb Andhalkar, the investigating officer, claimed Dabhade had confessed to paying a supari of Rs 1 lakh to Shinde. Police said when Shinde, a murder case suspect who is currently out on bail, refused to kill Shetty, he was told to return the money. Shinde returned Rs 20,000 but told Dabhade he would report to the police if he insisted on the remaining Rs 80,000, police said. </font></p><p align="justify"><font >Shetty&rsquo;s brother Sandip, however, believes there are other people behind the murder. &ldquo;Dabhade had a long history of disputes with my brother. He was earlier arrested for attempting to kill my brother... We suspect there are big persons behind the murder conspiracy. It is imperative that a CBI probe be conducted,&rdquo; he said.</font></p>'
