Vallalar.</font></p><p align="justify"><font >He was presiding over a function that marked the concluding day of 10th anniversary of the farmers&rsquo; market at NGO Colony here on Wednesday. </font></p><p align="justify"><font >Selling all items including groceries, masala items and rural foods at one place will help consumers get quality products at affordable prices. </font></p><p align="justify"><font >At the same time, farmers and rural food makers would get better price for their products as they could sell directly to consumers without any middlemen or commission agents, he added. </font></p><p align="justify"><font >Electronic weighing scale will be installed in the market soon. Efforts were also on to sell traditional food items like hand-pound rice (kai kuthal arisi), kambu and keppai koozh, puttu, fried grams, green gram sundal and vegetable soup in the market.</font></p><p align="justify"><font >A total of 48,874 tonnes of vegetables valued at Rs.52.30 crore was sold in the Dindigul farmers&rsquo; market in the past one decade. Approximately 2.75 lakh farmers had sold their vegetables to 1.21 crore consumers during the same period, he added. </font></p><p align="justify"><font >While Dindigul Municipal Chairman R. Natarajan expressed his desire to offer land for setting up of one more farmers&rsquo; market in the town, Dindigul Agricultural Produces Marketing Committee Chairman M.
