It has been made following allegations of irregularities, malpractices and lack of <a href="https://im4change.in/articles.php?articleId=58" title="https://im4change.in/articles.php?articleId=58">transparency</a> in the NCPCR selection process.</font></p><p align="justify"><font >It has pointed out that the rules framed under the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights Act 2005 have failed to lay down a detailed selection process, leaving scope for favouritism and undemocratic and non-transparent methods of selection. The result: selection of undeserving candidates.</font></p><p align="justify"><font ><em>Great loss</em></font></p><p align="justify"><font >This has caused a great loss to the children who have waited all these years to find a body of people who could act as their ombudsmen, says the appeal. &ldquo;India ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1992, reiterating its commitment to its children.</font></p><p align="justify"><font >The setting up of the Commission was a welcome step in this regard.</font></p><p align="justify"><font >However, the very first Commission was marred by an improper selection process. It has also recommended an amendment to the NCPCR Act, 2005 through wide consultations to remove discrepancies.
