Several schools flout RTE Act, conduct screening tests for children below 14 years by Shaswati Das

The dust is yet to settle on the admission procedure and several schools have already begun to screen children — a violation of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act 2009. As per the Act, children between the ages of six to 14 years cannot be subject to any form of screening. Hassled parents, who wanted to change their children’s school, have been forced to rethink their decision when their child’s name did not figure in the list despite a screening procedure.   “We applied to Mother's International School for our son.
