The state gave green signal to regularization of the services of 1.24 lakh para-teachers in the state, besides appointing teachers on contract basis in around 70 boarding schools for children of Scheduled Tribes (STs).<br /><br />The cabinet approval paved way for regularising services of over 1,24,000 shiksha mitras (para-teachers) deployed in primary schools in villages and towns across the state. These shiksha mitra will now have to undergo two-year training as per the guidelines of the national teachers' education board, formed for implementation of the Right to Education Act. The training will be held through distance education programme. Resource centres will be established across the state for training shiksha mitras. Those qualifying the examination after the training will be inducted as teachers in the primary schools. The process to regularise over 62,000 shiksha mitras will begin soon, while for a second lot of around 62,000 shiksha mitras the process will be held after two years. The target is to regularise services of all the shiksha mitras by June 2015. District magistrates will constitute a three-member committee to select shiksha mitras eligible for training in their respective districts.<br /><br />Further, the cabinet approved the proposal to fill the vacant teaching posts in the boarding schools across the state run by social welfare department for the children coming from ST families.
