Though united in a common grouse &mdash; the eviction of Baba Ramdev from Ramlila Grounds &mdash; Wednesday&rsquo;s gathering was a coalition of myriad opinions.<br /><br />Among those vocal and visible was the Student-Youth Campaign Against Corruption, comprising the All India Students Association (ASIA) and the Revolutionary Youth Association (RYA). Radhika Krishnan, a member of the organisation, said the Lokpal Bill was not a panacea, and would not uproot the problem either. While asserting that the Lokpal Bill should be strong, she said that there was &ldquo;no logic in saying that the Prime Minister or higher judiciary shouldn&rsquo;t come under its ambit&rdquo;. <br /><br />Krishnan said the student-youth campaign was also of the opinion that corruption took root ever since liberalisation was introduced in 1991. As the organisation&rsquo;s leaflets put it, &ldquo;corruption today... has been institutionalised by the present phase of rampant privatisation policies&rdquo; and the government must &ldquo;take back all neo-liberal and privatisation policies that have created a fertile ground for corruption&rdquo;.<br /><br />&ldquo;Blaming individuals is one thing, but there is a need to look further to systemic problems,&rdquo; Krishnan said, adding that the group stood staunchly for secularism, and the movement could not afford to have any &ldquo;links with communal forces&rdquo;. <br /><br />Another group that could be seen distributing leaflets to everybody was the Loknayak Jayprakash International Development Study Centre.
