State flood situation grim, death toll 96

GUWAHATI: The flood situation in the State continues to be grim with a population of nearly 28 lakh affected by the deluge in 26 districts. The number of villages/localities affected is 2,543. The death toll in the flood increased to 96 with three more fatalities reported from Morigaon, Kokrajhar and Barpeta districts.

The flood waters have also inundated 1,22,573 hectares of cropland.

A total of 50,136 flood-affected people are taking shelter in 496 relief camps across the state.
