A survey on malnutrition was conducted in November last year, while another one was conducted in February, which found a rise in number of SAM cases by 300, bringing the total to 6,000. The district also has 80,000 cases of malnutrition.</p><p align="justify">When contacted, district officials said no deaths had occurred due to SAM. District project officer (DPO) Rajesh Kumar said, &quot;I have no information regarding deaths due to malnutrition cases. The survey is on and compiling of data is going on at present.&quot;</p><p align="justify">However, according to reports prepared by anganwadi workers, Padarthpur, Parsona and Manpuriya Dalel villages under Bithri block recorded deaths of infants and children due to malnutrition between two surveys conducted by the DPO.</p><p align="justify">Parsona village, which has a population of around 10,000 villagers, has five anganwadi centers.
