                <font ><br /></font><div align="justify"><em><font >MP H Vishwanath expressing disappointment over the slow progress of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) in the district, asked the officials to work in co-ordination with each other to ensure that the Scheme reaches as many beneficiaries as possible.</font><br /><br /></em><font >Addressing the District Vigilance Committee meet on Tuesday, he said that the programmes are made by the Government for the people. All the programmes will fall meaningless if it does not reach the people on time. It is the responsibility of the officials and elected representatives to work for the success of the schemes.</font><br /><br /><font >Committee Member T P Ramesh said that the topography of Kodagu is the main reason for slow progress of the programme. &ldquo;In this regard, the Central government must be pressurised to make necessary changes to the rules to make the scheme suit the region,&rdquo; he said. The MP said that he would bring the issue to the notice of the Centre.</font><br /><br /><font >Member B S Thammaiah alleged that there are many misappropriations happening at the GP level under the scheme. He said that to avoid misuse of funds, the list of ongoing works must be put up outside all the GPs.</font><br /><br /><font >The MP said that in case there is any misappropriation, Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer will be held responsible for the same. ZP CEO should ensure that there is no misuse of funds. Responding to the same, CEO A B Ibrahim said that last year a total of Rs 14 crore was spent in the district. All the programmes will fall meaningless if it does not reach the people on time. It is the responsibility of the officials and elected representatives to work for the success of the schemes.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;font &gt;Committee Member T P Ramesh said that the topography of Kodagu is the main reason for slow progress of the programme. &amp;ldquo;In this regard, the Central government must be pressurised to make necessary changes to the rules to make the scheme suit the region,&amp;rdquo; he said. The MP said that he would bring the issue to the notice of the Centre.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;font &gt;Member B S Thammaiah alleged that there are many misappropriations happening at the GP level under the scheme.
