He said that he was ready to discuss the matter.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">Tension gripped Lakhimpur since morning as the number of protesters swelled, while the district administration deployed a strong posse of police and paramilitary personnel.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">Deputy Commissioner Anwaruddin Choudhury appealed to the protesters to lift the blockade and offered to arrange a meeting with the Northern Assam Commissioner.
