Changes in law, policies and programmes are required. But even more importantly, attitudes must change,&quot; he said at the opening of the conference.</p><p align="justify">The right to an adequate standard of living is closely linked to the right to work, added Mr. imonovi. &quot;The only way to secure a sustained adequate standard of living is ensuring that persons with disabilities can live independently in their societies, providing for themselves and their families by having access to the labour market on an equal basis with others.&quot;</p><p align="justify">This week's meeting takes place two months before the UN General Assembly convenes a High-level Meeting on Disability and Development on 23 September, under the theme &quot;The way forward: a disability inclusive development agenda towards 2015 and beyond.&quot;</p>'
