This basic flaw in the thinking and approach of the governments is chiefly responsible for the failure of the Dalit policy, he said.&lt;br /&gt;

The former Minister B. Somashekhar, who is also the president of Swabhimana, said that Dr. Ambedkar laid down the path of emancipation of Dalits under the Constitution. As the chief architect of the Constitution, he had included several clauses in the Constitution to uplift Dalits from thousands of years of oppression.&lt;br /&gt;

The former Chief Justice of India S. Rajendra Babu has said that the practice of untouchability with all the consequent evils is still haunting Dalits in particular and society at large.<br />

He was delivering the inaugural address at a discussion on &ldquo;Empowering Dalits under the Constitution&rdquo; organised by Swabhimana here.<br />

Mr. Rajendra Babu said that untouchability continues owing to the indifferent laws.<br />
<br />
The governments are bringing in laws with the hope to solving the problems but without success. Apparently, nobody honestly worked to free the Dalits from centuries of oppression and injustice.<br />
<br />
This basic flaw in the thinking and approach of the governments is chiefly responsible for the failure of the Dalit policy, he said.<br />
<br />
The former Minister B. Somashekhar, who is also the president of Swabhimana, said that Dr. Ambedkar laid down the path of emancipation of Dalits under the Constitution. As the chief architect of the Constitution, he had included several clauses in the Constitution to uplift Dalits from thousands of years of oppression.<br />
<br />
However, unfortunately Dalits have failed to grasp the true meaning of the principles of Dr. Ambedkar &mdash; educate, organise and agitate.
