                <div align="justify">-Hindustan Times</div><p align="justify"><em>Karnal: </em>A day after a 35-year-old man, Satpal Kashyap, died after being hit by a police vehicle in the convoy of chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar, the deceased's family claimed that timely medical aid could have saved his life.</p><p align="justify">The deceased, a daily wage earner from Pakhana village, was the sole breadwinner of the family and is survived by his wife and four school-going children.</p><p align="justify">Karnal superintendent of police Abhishek Garg said Kashyap was trying to cross the national highway-1 on foot when he was hit by the pilot vehicle near Taraori on Monday.</p><p align="justify">Two policemen, including the driver of the pilot vehicle, also sustained injuries in the accident.</p><p align="justify">The injured, including Kashyap, were rushed to the Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College where Kashyap succumbed to injuries on Monday night.A case under section 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against pilot vehicle driver Virender Singh.</p><p align="justify"><em>&lsquo;KHATTAR DIDN'T STOP CONVOY AFTER MISHAP'</em></p><p align="justify">The deceased's elder brother, Karambir Kashyap, alleged that instead of offering prompt medical aid to the accident victim in an ambulance in the VVIP convoy, Khattar did not stop his cavalcade on the spot. &quot;Khattar did not even botherto visit the aggrieved family that lost its bread earner after being hit by the his convoy. Money cannot compensate for the loss of life,&quot; he told reporters.</p><p align="justify">However, there was no confirmation if the victim was offered any first aid by the doctors or the policemen in the CM's convoy.</p><p align="justify">Takhana sarpanch Teg Singh demanded that besides bearing all expenses, including education of the deceased's children, the state government construct a pucca house for the family.</p><p align="justify">Meanwhile, state health minister Anil Vij called on the aggrieved family at Pakhana and also met the injured cops at Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College here.</p><p align="justify">Vij assured the family a thorough investigation to ascertain the cause of the fatal accident.</p><p align="justify">Besides the grant of Rs. 5 lakh announced by chief minister Khattar, Vij also announced to give Rs. 5 lakh from his discretionary quota to the kin of the deceased. CM's Officer on special duty (OSD) Amrinder Singh also called on the family to convey Khattar's condolence message to them.
