The trial in the case was shifted to the Rohini Sessions Court last December from Hisar following a Supreme Court directive to ensure a fair trial for the victims and their advocates who complained they felt threatened.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Meanwhile, advocates for the victims alleged that with the deposition of witness commencing and many of the accused being identified by them, families of the accused persons are threatening them with dire consequences.&lt;br /&gt;

$disp = '<div align="justify"><em>For the first time, SHO also identified as one of the alleged perpetrators of crime<br /><br />The trial in the case was shifted to the Rohini Sessions Court last December<br /><br />&lsquo;Families of the accused are threatening witnesses with dire consequences'<br /></em><br />Kamla, whose physically challenged daughter and husband were killed in the Mirchpur caste violence case in which 18 Dalit houses were also burnt in April last year, has identified 81 of the 98 accused in the case including the SHO of Narnaud police station, Vinod Kajal.<br /><br />Though 49 witnesses were examined before Kamla, this is the first time that the SHO has been identified as one of the alleged perpetrators of the crime.<br /><br />The prime prosecution witness, Kamla, whose husband Tara Chand and daughter Suman were burnt to death by a mob belonging to the Jat community at Mirchpur in neighbouring Haryana, told Additional Sessions Judge Kamini Lau that despite making pleas to the SHO to save the lives of her husband and daughter, the police officer did not respond.<br /><br />Kamla told the court that she hid at a safe distance, fearful for her life, and watched as Mr. Kajal gave the mob about an hour-and-half &ldquo;to finish their work&rdquo; by which time he informed them that a police force from Hisar would arrive.<br /><br />The trial in the case was shifted to the Rohini Sessions Court last December from Hisar following a Supreme Court directive to ensure a fair trial for the victims and their advocates who complained they felt threatened.<br /><br />Meanwhile, advocates for the victims alleged that with the deposition of witness commencing and many of the accused being identified by them, families of the accused persons are threatening them with dire consequences.<br /><br />The witnesses are currently lodged at the Lampur Detention Centre here.<br /><br /><em>70 prosecution witnesses<br /></em><br />There are nearly 70 prosecution witnesses in the case. Charges were framed against 98 people by the court on March 11 under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.<br /><br />The prosecution in the case comprises of Special Public Prosecutors appointed by the Haryana and Delhi Governments aided by a team of lawyers from the Human Rights Law Networks and National Campaign on Dalit Human Rights.</div>'
