NEW DELHI: Indian citizens living abroad can now access information from 176 Indian missions with the government extending the facility of electronic Indian postal order to the missions.

The department of personnel and training said it had received feedback that non-resident Indians (NRIs) were facing difficulties in accessing information from the Indian missions and posts under the ministry of external affairs. "In order to facilitate for obtaining the information under the RTI act, by the Indian citizen living abroad from Indian missions or posts under MEA the facility of electronic Indian postal order (e-IPO) is extended to 176 Indian missions," the order said.

In March, the department had introduced e-IPO to facilitate use of the RTI Act by Indians living abroad. Indian citizens across the globe can purchase e-IPO by paying the fee online and access information from all Central public authorities.
