Ranchi: Another scam involving around Rs.2.5cr in Jharkhand Renewable Energy Department (JREDA) has been unearthed. The alleged scam amount has been siphoned off to various suppliers without obtaining any goods. The State’s Accountant General has submitted a report to the government to this disclosure. The government has immediately ordered a Vigilance enquiry into the scam.

JREDA had appointed seven suppliers for supplying solar lamps, Domestic lights and street lights which is distributed to people and districts as State assistance. The orders were placed on paper and the payments made without obtaining any supply. The orders were for 2760 SL, 690 DSL and 100 SLS to the tune of Rs.2.5cr. There was no entry in the stock books of the agenda though the full amount was paid, reeking of fraud. The AG has also alleged fraud in the dealings of JREDA in his detailed report to the government. It is clear that the government officials had connived with the suppliers to cheat the State ex-chequer.

The Vigilance Department has started its investigations and important papers and registers taken under their custody. Till now no FIR has been lodged in the matter.

The suppliers include M/s. Kamla & Sons, Millenium Enterprises, PPS Invero & S G Enterprises.
