                            <div style="text-align: justify">-PTI</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">About 58.8 per cent of households in Maharashtra have TV sets while 13.3 per cent have computer/laptop and 69.1 per cent have telephone/mobile in their households, as per the data on &quot;housing, amenities and assets&quot; in the 2011 census.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">The respective figures at national level are 47.2, 9.5 and 63.2 per cent, Ranjit Singh Deol, director Census operations, Maharashtra, told reporters in Mumbai.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">The share of households having two wheelers is 24.9 per cent and four wheelers is 5.9 per cent and these figures at national level are 21 and 4.7 per cent respectively, he said.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">The Census in Maharashtra was taken in two phases; first phase consisting of houselisting and housing census and the second phase was that of actual enumeration of population during February 9-28, 2011, he said.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">The number of households having access to tap water at district level reveals that Mumbai district ranks first having highest percentage of 97.8 of households using tap water as main source of drinking water, followed by Mumbai suburban where it is 96.5 per cent.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">This figure is between 90 to 80 per cent in districts like Jalgaon (88.7), Kolhapur (85.4), Dhule (83.9), Thane (80.8) and Pune (80.6). The lowest proportion of households having tap water as main source is reported in Gondiya district (17.5) followed by Gadchiroli (19.5), Sindhudurg (30.7), Hingoli (35.9) and Bhandara (38.0).</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">In Maharashtra, about 46.9 per cent of households do not have toilet facility within their premises whereas this figure is 53.1 per cent at national level, Deol said.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">Among the 46.9 per cent of households not having toiltes, 34.0 per cent are using open space and 12.9 per cent are using public latrines, he said.</div><div style="text-align: justify">&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: justify">The use of public latrines appears more in Maharashtra as compared to just 3.2 per cent at national level, he said.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">Among the 53.1 per cent of households having toilet facility within the premises, 43.5 households have a flush type toilet and 8.8 per cent have a pit toilet.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">Sindhudurg district (75.9 per cent) has reported highest proportion of households having toilet facility within the premises followed by Nagpur (75.7), Kolhapur (74.5), Pune (73.8) and Satara (71.1).</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">The percentage is lowest in Beed (25.1), Gadchiroli (27.0), Osmanabad (27.7), Nandurbar (28.7) and Parbhani (28.8).</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">The use of public latrine is more common in both the districts of Mumbai where it is 42.9 per cent in Mumbai Suburban and 31.5 per cent in Mumbai. Dhule (21.6), Raigad (19.8) and Thane (18.8) have reported higher proportion of households using public latrine.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">In Maharashtra, the percentage of households using open space for toilet is highest in Beed (73.2) followed by Gadchiroli (71.9), Parbhani (70.1) and Osmanabad (68.9).</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">Compared to national level, Maharashtra has better figures in terms of availability of bathroom and kitchen to households.</div><div style="text-align: justify">&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: justify">There are 64.3 per cent households having bathroom (covered roof) and 14.6 per cent households use open space (without any enclosure). These figures at national level are 42.0 per cent and 41.6 per cent.</div>

                            <div style="text-align: justify">-PTI</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">About 58.8 per cent of households in Maharashtra have TV sets while 13.3 per cent have computer/laptop and 69.1 per cent have telephone/mobile in their households, as per the data on &quot;housing, amenities and assets&quot; in the 2011 census.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">The respective figures at national level are 47.2, 9.5 and 63.2 per cent, Ranjit Singh Deol, director Census operations, Maharashtra, told reporters in Mumbai.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">The share of households having two wheelers is 24.9 per cent and four wheelers is 5.9 per cent and these figures at national level are 21 and 4.7 per cent respectively, he said.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">The Census in Maharashtra was taken in two phases; first phase consisting of houselisting and housing census and the second phase was that of actual enumeration of population during February 9-28, 2011, he said.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">The number of households having access to tap water at district level reveals that Mumbai district ranks first having highest percentage of 97.8 of households using tap water as main source of drinking water, followed by Mumbai suburban where it is 96.5 per cent.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">This figure is between 90 to 80 per cent in districts like Jalgaon (88.7), Kolhapur (85.4), Dhule (83.9), Thane (80.8) and Pune (80.6). The lowest proportion of households having tap water as main source is reported in Gondiya district (17.5) followed by Gadchiroli (19.5), Sindhudurg (30.7), Hingoli (35.9) and Bhandara (38.0).</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">In Maharashtra, about 46.9 per cent of households do not have toilet facility within their premises whereas this figure is 53.1 per cent at national level, Deol said.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">Among the 46.9 per cent of households not having toiltes, 34.0 per cent are using open space and 12.9 per cent are using public latrines, he said.</div><div style="text-align: justify">&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: justify">The use of public latrines appears more in Maharashtra as compared to just 3.2 per cent at national level, he said.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">Among the 53.1 per cent of households having toilet facility within the premises, 43.5 households have a flush type toilet and 8.8 per cent have a pit toilet.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">Sindhudurg district (75.9 per cent) has reported highest proportion of households having toilet facility within the premises followed by Nagpur (75.7), Kolhapur (74.5), Pune (73.8) and Satara (71.1).</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">The percentage is lowest in Beed (25.1), Gadchiroli (27.0), Osmanabad (27.7), Nandurbar (28.7) and Parbhani (28.8).</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">The use of public latrine is more common in both the districts of Mumbai where it is 42.9 per cent in Mumbai Suburban and 31.5 per cent in Mumbai. Dhule (21.6), Raigad (19.8) and Thane (18.8) have reported higher proportion of households using public latrine.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">In Maharashtra, the percentage of households using open space for toilet is highest in Beed (73.2) followed by Gadchiroli (71.9), Parbhani (70.1) and Osmanabad (68.9).</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">Compared to national level, Maharashtra has better figures in terms of availability of bathroom and kitchen to households.</div><div style="text-align: justify">&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: justify">There are 64.3 per cent households having bathroom (covered roof) and 14.6 per cent households use open space (without any enclosure). These figures at national level are 42.0 per cent and 41.6 per cent.</div>

                            <div style="text-align: justify">-PTI</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">About 58.8 per cent of households in Maharashtra have TV sets while 13.3 per cent have computer/laptop and 69.1 per cent have telephone/mobile in their households, as per the data on &quot;housing, amenities and assets&quot; in the 2011 census.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">The respective figures at national level are 47.2, 9.5 and 63.2 per cent, Ranjit Singh Deol, director Census operations, Maharashtra, told reporters in Mumbai.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">The share of households having two wheelers is 24.9 per cent and four wheelers is 5.9 per cent and these figures at national level are 21 and 4.7 per cent respectively, he said.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">The Census in Maharashtra was taken in two phases; first phase consisting of houselisting and housing census and the second phase was that of actual enumeration of population during February 9-28, 2011, he said.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">The number of households having access to tap water at district level reveals that Mumbai district ranks first having highest percentage of 97.8 of households using tap water as main source of drinking water, followed by Mumbai suburban where it is 96.5 per cent.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">This figure is between 90 to 80 per cent in districts like Jalgaon (88.7), Kolhapur (85.4), Dhule (83.9), Thane (80.8) and Pune (80.6). The lowest proportion of households having tap water as main source is reported in Gondiya district (17.5) followed by Gadchiroli (19.5), Sindhudurg (30.7), Hingoli (35.9) and Bhandara (38.0).</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">In Maharashtra, about 46.9 per cent of households do not have toilet facility within their premises whereas this figure is 53.1 per cent at national level, Deol said.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">Among the 46.9 per cent of households not having toiltes, 34.0 per cent are using open space and 12.9 per cent are using public latrines, he said.</div><div style="text-align: justify">&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: justify">The use of public latrines appears more in Maharashtra as compared to just 3.2 per cent at national level, he said.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">Among the 53.1 per cent of households having toilet facility within the premises, 43.5 households have a flush type toilet and 8.8 per cent have a pit toilet.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">Sindhudurg district (75.9 per cent) has reported highest proportion of households having toilet facility within the premises followed by Nagpur (75.7), Kolhapur (74.5), Pune (73.8) and Satara (71.1).</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">The percentage is lowest in Beed (25.1), Gadchiroli (27.0), Osmanabad (27.7), Nandurbar (28.7) and Parbhani (28.8).</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">The use of public latrine is more common in both the districts of Mumbai where it is 42.9 per cent in Mumbai Suburban and 31.5 per cent in Mumbai. Dhule (21.6), Raigad (19.8) and Thane (18.8) have reported higher proportion of households using public latrine.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">In Maharashtra, the percentage of households using open space for toilet is highest in Beed (73.2) followed by Gadchiroli (71.9), Parbhani (70.1) and Osmanabad (68.9).</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">Compared to national level, Maharashtra has better figures in terms of availability of bathroom and kitchen to households.</div><div style="text-align: justify">&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: justify">There are 64.3 per cent households having bathroom (covered roof) and 14.6 per cent households use open space (without any enclosure). These figures at national level are 42.0 per cent and 41.6 per cent.</div>

58.8 pc households in Maharashtra have TV sets

-PTI About 58.8 per cent of households in Maharashtra have TV sets while 13.3 per cent have computer/laptop and 69.1 per cent have telephone/mobile in their households, as per the data on "housing, amenities and assets" in the 2011 census. The respective figures at national level are 47.2, 9.5 and 63.2 per cent, Ranjit Singh Deol, director Census operations, Maharashtra, told reporters in Mumbai. The share of households having two wheelers is 24.9 per cent and four wheelers is 5.9 per cent and these figures at national level are 21 and 4.7 per cent respectively, he said. The Census in Maharashtra was taken in two phases; first phase consisting of houselisting and housing census and the second phase was that of actual enumeration of population during February 9-28, 2011, he said. The number of households having access to tap water at district level reveals that Mumbai district ranks first having highest percentage of 97.8 of households using tap water as main source of drinking water, followed by Mumbai suburban where it is 96.5 per cent. This figure is between 90 to 80 per cent in districts like Jalgaon (88.7), Kolhapur (85.4), Dhule (83.9), Thane (80.8) and Pune (80.6). The lowest proportion of households having tap water as main source is reported in Gondiya district (17.5) followed by Gadchiroli (19.5), Sindhudurg (30.7), Hingoli (35.9) and Bhandara (38.0). In Maharashtra, about 46.9 per cent of households do not have toilet facility within their premises whereas this figure is 53.1 per cent at national level, Deol said. Among the 46.9 per cent of households not having toiltes, 34.0 per cent are using open space and 12.9 per cent are using public latrines, he said.   The use of public latrines appears more in Maharashtra as compared to just 3.2 per cent at national level, he said. Among the 53.1 per cent of households having toilet facility within the premises, 43.5 households have a flush type toilet and 8.8 per cent have a pit toilet. Sindhudurg district (75.9 per cent) has reported highest proportion of households having toilet facility within the premises followed by Nagpur (75.7), Kolhapur (74.5), Pune (73.8) and Satara (71.1). The percentage is lowest in Beed (25.1), Gadchiroli (27.0), Osmanabad (27.7), Nandurbar (28.7) and Parbhani (28.8). The use of public latrine is more common in both the districts of Mumbai where it is 42.9 per cent in Mumbai Suburban and 31.5 per cent in Mumbai. Dhule (21.6), Raigad (19.8) and Thane (18.8) have reported higher proportion of households using public latrine. In Maharashtra, the percentage of households using open space for toilet is highest in Beed (73.2) followed by Gadchiroli (71.9), Parbhani (70.1) and Osmanabad (68.9). Compared to national level, Maharashtra has better figures in terms of availability of bathroom and kitchen to households.   There are 64.3 per cent households having bathroom (covered roof) and 14.6 per cent households use open space (without any enclosure). These figures at national level are 42.0 per cent and 41.6 per cent.
